Passion8- i ordered the small muffin cases without realising but it will make the hampers look more full having 2 in each ha ha, and i put red lollys through the middle to make the "cherries" and i have to say they look yummy!

im giving my bithday hamper today so hopefully my attempt at creativity will be well recieved, this forum is full of so many good ideas its brilliant :-)

ooops, just lost another post in the ether :o but thanks lush, I'm sure the finished product will look lovely :) I ordered the tall cases btw, so I'll try again later :)

Ickle87 - thanks for the reply. Not sure what I did (or didn't do lol) but got as far as where it asked me for £19.99 ...!?! and tried to print instead. I managed the headline part, and some minute-looking unreadable text lol, but it's a novel idea so I'll try again :D

For anyone doing garden-related hampers, there was some cups and saucers reduced in Whittards of Chelsea. They were also selling these storage jars:

    http://www.whittard.co.uk/store/catalogue/Tea-&-Coffee-Equipment-P6000/Storage-Caddies-&-Tins-SC6007/Medium-Airtight-Glass-Storage-Jar-240630.raa

reduced from £6 to £1.50 so might be worth looking for? The item looks better than the picture btw. The lid had a stainless steel type insert, and just below the lid, the glass had a frosted effect. Really pretty imo and bought some to put bath salts in, but unsure if glass and bathrooms go together? They're still nice as storage jars though :D

For anyone wanting to take the lazy way out ;), they were selling reduced space rockets with bags of gold chocolate coins below them. With a bit of rearrangement, they'd go well with the pots of gold theme - except they're not pots :rotfl:

They also had reduced cups with oval saucers to hold biscuits - hard to describe but if the pc's working ok, (and OH is too ;)) I'll ask him to take a pic and I'll post it up later.

  • Hi all, there are some gorgeous baskets here and I'm truly inspired to have a go at making some, however, where on earth would I buy cellophane wrap to wrap them in?

Pidge I am still learning where everything is as I only moved up here in March :) OH knows everywhere though which is great! Yorkshire trading is good sometimes aswell just have to work your way through the high volume of tat! Thats a few doors up from Home bargains in Cramlington. I am in Blyth, not sure if Whitley bay is too far out for you or not but there is another home bargains there which is a bit bigger than the one in cramlington and also there is an ex catalogue shop ;)

Hi again Rusty :) Just reading back and the mention of the North East reminded me of a post that geordie_lass made in the Boots thread. I'm not sure how near you might be, but the link that geordie_lass posted was about the Original Factory Shop:

Those offers are most probably well out of date now, but they looked that good I considered a trip up there :D Might be worth a look if you haven't already? (And if it is nearby ;))

I love Yorkshire Trading ( cheeky and get some xmas cards in there dirt cheap!). We live in Essex but OH is from North Yorkshire so when we visit MIL we always have to make a trip to YT & Boyes and then to Redcar for Chiltern Mills & B&M....

Just waiting for my gardening book to come and then I can finish my sisters bday hamper... blooming Tescos:mad:

Sorry Mazcabs I wrote it sounding funny, I meant that some of the stuff in there is tat, not all of it though, I myself have bought quite a bit in there. Didn't mean it to sound so bad lol Been a hard day so I apologise.

How far will 10m of cellophane get you, any examples?

Just seen 75 muffin bun cases for 69p in Morrisons, they are just plain but would fit the muffin socks nicely. Going to make some for my friend for Christmas as she loves things like that.

Also thanks for the tip about the 5 preserves for £1 in Morrisons - except the lad on the till only charged me 50p for all 5! I also got the last tub of Ben & Jerry's Caramel Chew Chew, mwah ha ha ha ha! :D

  • Has anyone managed to get single (or small packs of) bath pearls to use in flannel cupcakes? I seen largish packs in Boots for £2.99 I think, but don't really need many. When I was a kid you used to get them singly in loads of places....

I'm another southerner longing for a home bargains!

Thanks Rusty, I also got Phish Food for DH but I find it a bit sickly. Where as I could eat a whole tub of Chew Chew in one sitting LOL!

got-it-spend-it - I remember you did used to be able to get single bath pearls in places like Boots, almost like a pick and mix stand but for the bath. Maybe the Body Shop might still do them? Or ebay?
