My brain works in mysterious ways--like I need to tell yooze lot summat you already know
A fair while back, someone was talking about doing hampers around DAYS OUT but the cost of theme park tickets being v  We-ll...wuddiya think of this idea...
[snipped ...]
Brilliant idea BigMummaFWe used to hunt out the nearest Tourist Information Centres (usually for hotels because they get daily lists about which hotels had vacancies with large discounts, so very moneysaving
) and obtain the info about 'what's on' etc.
The Street Life type museums are great imo and most big towns seem to have them and they beat places like the Jorvik Centre, which can be pretty costly. They're especially good if you're old, like melol, or have kids that are into history, but you do have to wrap up warm for some places - (take note bunbun2 :rotfl:) Eden Camp springs to mind on that count. We didn't prepare very well for that place and I still feel as if I'm thawing out more than 10 years after visiting it
cookiedough - Can you cellophane your OH, add a bow, and send him round please?Love the bucket hamper too. How practical is that?
Ditto rosekitten, what a great idea and your basket is so pretty too - really eye-catching. It's great having everything in one place isn't it? Especially if someone else has put it in one place for usand I couldn't believe how much it had cost you. Brilliant idea!
savingholmes - you're a :staradminThanks so much for the list - I was running myself ragged around eBay lol, and glittery antlers are the way forward
LOL too at you saying your OH was 'vaguely aware' of the hamper he's making you :rotfl:
Shakespeare3 - hiI've been sending mails to people who I know are making baskets for babies, with the link to view yours, and I'm sure they're as impressed as I am
I checked out the site you mentioned about the flannel animals, and only just realised that there's no soap inside the flannel, lol.
Do people pop a bar of soap in the doughnut type gap, or is there another method that anyone knows about please? I assumed that the flannels were wrapped around the soap first
I'm all over the place with this post lol, so apologies all - I'll read back again.Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive. ~ Sir Walter Scott0 -

What a great name for themThanks she grinch, I'll have a look back
(I'd be tempted to dip the ice cube in a white wine and soda lol, but the flannel might get in the way
)

Following on from my train of thought yesterday, it occurred that many children do not know what it's like to travel on a bus or train these days.
I remember the buses used to have something called a rover ticket around here, that you paid X amount but could travel anywhere within a certain location--like for us it was Portsmouth/ Brighton & Crawley I think--for however many times you chose. They were available for just the day or week & probably four weeks too. Obviously I don't know if you can get a gift voucher for these--be a bit difficult to buy one otherwise unless you know when they would be likely to use it.
There is a RailCard tho, that gives families/travellers discount fairs. Not sure of the cost, but you would be able to get details from the station or there's this site http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/
Now.....who can I give one to......Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

Morning BigMummaF
It's worth checking out the c2c site too: http://www.c2c-online.co.uk/
They were handing out 2 x return tickets for free not long ago - which can't be bad
ETA: Looks like they have a 2for1 offer on, and some added perks?

BigmummaF again another fantastic idea!
When we moved up to the north east they have the metro here and we made a point of driving to the metro station and jumping on the metro into the city both kids loved it and it meant we didn't have to worry about parking prices etc!Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
