Fabulous idea! Your nieces are going to be so pleased.

I love this thread, and am starting to love it more than the Bootsing one, as everyone's hampers and ideas are so great. We should receive an award for being so creative in this credit crunch time.
  • hi everyone,
thanks to all regarding the BELL suggestions. Sis rang yesterday to say she had found a pack of ten in her local craft shop so bought them - i will pick them up later today but going to buy the pack off ebay too. sis has asked me to make a few cupcake flannels and reindeers for her to donate to the school christmas fair and shes doing fairycakes for them too.
Love the baking basketand think i may do a movie night for us for xmas eve too, be nice to get organised and have it ready. We always do a film xmas eve and end up rumaging round to see what goodies we can find.
I bought a craft pack from homebargins £1.99 that contained loads of stuff- pipecleaners, pompoms all colours/sizes, googly eyes, felt squares, feathers and scissors. Thought the price was real good. thinking of getting another. I forgot too i used black pipecleaners on some reindeers and glittery ones on others they all look good no matter which i have used. no brown ones here either.

Forgot to take a picture of my last hamper but rosekitten's baking hamper put it to shame anyway!

It was a box of cake mix, a few of the Supercook tubs (silver balls, oranges and lemons, silver strands), some cake cases, all in a pyrex mixing bowl with a light blue cupcake teatowel making it look pretty. Then I put the bowl on top of a cupcakes cook book (from The Works), added two sock muffins and wrapped it all up in cellophane. I then tied a wooden spoon to the cellophane with a ribbon!

Unbelieveable - I looked at the contents of your hamper and thought it would be at least £10. :T :T :T Congrats only problem is I am now tempted to go looking for some extras now! I did get my DS and his friend cooking some cookies last week using a packet mix - they were delicious! There are some advantages to baking hampers - I accidentally  bought a few too many mixes if you know what I mean ;)

MummaF Love the idea on the bus rover tickets - its so true and it would be a great present one day for my DS - I would want him to be a bit older first tho...

I'd like to bulk out a hamper a little, so far it has:

bar of soap cake (looks like pink coconut cake)
    cup & pink herbal teas
    cupcakes teatowl
    sock muffin
    cupcakes coasters

But I want to put some more things either in the hamper or with it. Thinking the same cupcakes book I mentioned before, a teapot, something cake-smell related from Lush - any other ideas?

BMF, you're right about young ones not experiencing public transport. We are going to get the train to London at the end of November with DS1 (he's 4) as I know he'll love the train journey as much as he's going to love the dinosaurs in the Natural History Museum!
