want to make some hampers but i dont know where the best place to get cheap and cheerful baskets from???? any ideas :j

Hi Morrisons do nice baskets with lids from 99p they are seagrass type (I think thats what theyre called) also Dunelm Mill have nice lined wicker ones from £1.99 they have quite a big range of baskets in my local one. QS is another place where you can get unusuall boxes and baskets again starting from about £1.
It's worth keeping your eye open wherever you are you just never know! places like Asda and Tesco also do nice baskets and boxes sometimes. HTH:smiley:

Great to have the smileys back!:j

Don't worry - you'll convert him soon! Dh thought i was mental when i started planning xmas in july, but now he's as enthusiastic as i am. All it takes is to notice that you can save loads of money as well as having months to come up with really thoughtful gifts, as opposed to dashing round the shops in the crowds, spending a fortune on whatever's left on the shelf.

don't let him put you off :)

Was not sure where to put this, sorry.

But wanted to let you, as it might be useful for some, that Morrisons currently has the 100g Green&Blacks chocolate pack at £1 each (I've never seen them cheaper so far?) (£1.25 at sainsbury with a 2 for £2.50 offer)

Also the miniature collection (12 x 15g bars) is at £3.99, again cheapest I've seen so far. (but i didn't go to ASDA for ages...)

Much cheaper than on the B&G online store...

Good for anyone thinking on special chocolate / organic hampers :T

hi, can anyone help me with how much cellophane is needed for gift baskets. i havent made any hampers before and have been looking on ebay for some shops that sell cellophane and havent a clue how much to buy :s. im aiming to do 3 medium sized baskets.any help would be appreciated :D

Really depends how big your baskets are but I think I am safe saying you would be able to get 3 baskets from a 5m roll. If they are smaller, you would be able to do it with 2m. I think the best way to do it is buy your baskets and then using a tape measure work out roughly how much you'd need to wrap each.

    HTH :D

Yep I have a hubbie like that too! I've sort of stopped asking his opinion about what I'm doing and just got on with it without him. Think we are both happier that way ;) However, he has really surprised me and complemented several of my baskets. I think he is now realising that I've taken the headache of what to buy for who away from him and hopefully we'll save a few pennies in the process!!! :D

  • Can anyone help. I am at a complete stand still with a hamper for dad. He's into photography, but just bought a new digital camera, and he's got photo papers, laptop, usb drive, frames albums etc, so no point doing that for him.

He does like model cars, and he has loads, he always gets them though so was planning on doing something different but what *confused*
I mean as a last resort i would do a model car basket, but what would i put in??

I was maybe thinking of a sweet basket, or a joke basket, but with being so busy these past few weeks i have no energy to think what to put in. can anyone give me some ideas?

    sorry in advance

    nutty xx

  • If he likes taking photos outdoors then perhaps warm socks, fingerless gloves, scarf, hat, jumper, flask and sandwich box
Or for car collection how about box type display case, mini feather duster (to clean them), note book and pen to catelogue his collection:confused:

Nutty, that's a hard one. She grinch's ideas are fab!

If you wanted something silly and can get to some shops you could get basket and sweets from Woolies and jokey stuff from somewhere like Hawkins Baazar.

How about a car wash bucket of goodies? I did this for my dad for his birthday and wrapped in cello it looked fab (if I do say so myself!!!).

Is there anything like model car exhibitions that you could get him tickets for? A subcription to a photography or model car magazine? Maybe this would be pricey?

I don't think that's probably much help is it?
