findingmyfeet - I got a lot of 'unwanted gifts' from the charity shops earlier in the year (still keep finding a few) -was determined this year christmas would be on a budget........so far so good.
So I've got a bit of a mixture and have been sorting it out as I go along bearing in mind I'm covering birthdays as well.
For MIL I did a basket of things connected with roses.....nice china mug, covered coat hangers with little roses on, notellets, rose bath petals, rose shaped soaps, little hand towel with a rose on it.
Can't guarantee a 'theme' for a lot of the christmas ones though so it's just what I've got that will suit a particular person though ex foster girls is all in red and white -white towels, red coloured bath oil, -oh eck, can't remember what else just that its all red and white..............lol
So far I've just wrapped the basket in cellophane so the presents are still visible but for a few I'll wrap the pressies in tissue or cellophane particularly if they're not given to them on the actual birthday or christmas.
Postable pressies will be in covered shoe boxes, plus those for the boys/men in the family -not sure they'd want a basket.
I know everyone seems to be getting a mug of some sort..........I found that many I've decided to pop a tea bag or coffee sachet in them, or do a flannel cake to try and make it look like frothy coffee.............lol0 -
This year I'm covering them so they can then be part of the present and be used afterwards. Luckily, our shoe shop has sorted out some good quality shoe boxes for me to add to the three I've got.
I covered them with scrapbook paper 12" x 12" is about the right size. Did do one for a young lad in brown paper and put scrapbook sticker shapes on it. He was thrilled to bits. Wallpaper would do just as well.Mary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Thanks for this. I might use this idea for my parents as they have loads of baskets and dont really need anymore. I have already bought some nice olive oil to go in, so it looks like a cookery/food box!0

To be honest finding nice baskets at a reasonable price is quite difficult. They didn't have any of the £1.99 in my Wilkinsons last week or any other's under a fiver, Dunelm's were quite small for £3.99 (probably missed the best I know), TKMaxx's were beautiful but what a price
I am looking for a largish + squarish one but don't want to spend over a fiver
The 99p store have a round/not deep and an oval/deep basket they also have some really large bowls which could be handy for a food/fruit basket0 -
Oh I was SOOOO happy to go into town today and see christmas cards, wrapping paper and even gift sets in the shops!!!
It's getting closer!! Hehehe!
I managed to pick up some toiletry gift sets in savers for 99p each - classy looking bits for the price - ideal to split up and mix and match if anyone is doing toiletry or pamper baskets!!0 -

Yep, crayons and playdough sound like a good bet for a 3 year old findingmyfeet! The matalan boxes with a chalkboard front would be good for the actual "basket" (search this thread for matalan chalkboard and you'll find them - they keep being mentioned).
Idea for the 5 and 6 year old - a craft box maybe? You could have lots of different bits for them to stick and make things with (sequins, beads, pipe cleaners etc - The Works and Poundland are great for these type of things). Or perhaps a baking set with a mixing bowl and some cake or biscuit making items? These ideas might be a bit too "girly" - I don't know ... some boys seem to like making things as much as girls, some don't. Just thought i'd share the idea!0 -
Charity shops, pound shops, ebay (check p&p costs), Wilkos, Home Bargains, Dunnelm Mill, supermarkets sometimes have them on offer...

Thanks!

my best friend is getting married in 3 weeks time and ive just decided i would love to do a hamper for her (after reading some of this thread!). I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what to put in as im stuck! I found a personalised scroll on ebay which i will put the lyrics to her first dance on (its tied with a rose), and a personalised candle but beyond that I'm stuck. I can't get out easily (in disabled) so I need to buy things online.
Any idea's would really be appreciated
