my best friend is getting married in 3 weeks time and ive just decided i would love to do a hamper for her (after reading some of this thread!). I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what to put in as im stuck! I found a personalised scroll on ebay which i will put the lyrics to her first dance on (its tied with a rose), and a personalised candle but beyond that I'm stuck. I can't get out easily (in disabled) so I need to buy things online.

Any idea's would really be appreciated

    Thank you:j
Hiya, loads of peeps have prob replied before now, just don't have time to read through the thread tonight, so sorry if I'm repeating everybody else. My niece got married recently, and one of her gifts was a set of plain cream towels tied really nicely with a large white bow, they then added a cream photo frame, bottle of wine, two glasses and a large pillar candle, It was arranged really prettily, as they stood it in a large box with the front half cut down, then wrapped in silverish paper, added silvery shredded paper and cream roses to decorate. Couldn't get a pic at time (would have loved to just for inspiration!!) but was chatting to someone who knows the person gave the gift, they reckoned it didn't cost €50 total (the towels were all bought seperately), but my neice loved it.

  • Just a heads up on the fact Homebase (you know like the B&Q shop) have cheap baskets in different colours for anyone who did not see my post a few weeks back....
Real men never follow instructions; after all they are just the manufacturer's opinion on how to put something together. :p

How about a small bottle of fizz and a pair of glasses; some nice chocs; bath bomb; his/hers flannels; a door hanger saying "just married - do not disturb"...

  • hi all, thanks for all your great ideas. Just seen the chalkboard storage at matalan they look superb -- my nephews would love those im sure. thats 3 of those on my shopping list for this week, just hope my local matalan have them in its only a small one. For the nieces it will be a basket or pretty girlie looking box-i will know when i see it in town. Cant make my mind up between a girlie night in or a pamper hamper for them, or maybe i could just do them a mixture. let you know. so for i have a list of growing ideas .....

Also my best friends daughter off to uni in sept, thought i might do her something-sort of a trial run' first week at uni survival kit'!!!!

Melon78- thanks for the kiddy advice, long time since mine were that age you forget what they do. (mine are 18 and 16).

If they have any baskets they are not using why don't you ask them to pass over any they don't need, you can recycle them;)
To be honest finding nice baskets at a reasonable price is quite difficult. They didn't have any of the £1.99 in my Wilkinsons last week or any other's under a fiver, Dunelm's were quite small for £3.99 (probably missed the best I know), TKMaxx's were beautiful but what a price
I am looking for a largish + squarish one but don't want to spend over a fiver :(
The 99p store have a round/not deep and an oval/deep basket they also have some really large bowls which could be handy for a food/fruit basket

Don't know if this helps or not but they have them online still (if they are the same?) I know there is postage to pay if you can't collect instore but I have just bought £50 worth of stuff and used the £10 off voucher from hotukdeals.

I would have struggled usually but they had the Hannah Montana pillow that dd wants which bumped up the cost and I also got bits and pieces for various hampers, plus stocking filles for dd2, so I'm happy! Oh and I got dd some bits for college too!

There are some great pictures on here btw - it really helps to see them!

Thanks to this thread, I have a (sneaky - don't wanna be too c0cky in case I jinx myself!) feeling I will avoid the xmas rush for the first time ever!!
