In the past when I have done gift boxes or bags / baskets I have always had the problem of just adding one more thing.... (shopaholic tendencies will out) - unfortunately when I wrap them I then tend to open them nearer the time as I will have forgotten what was in them and like the thrill of looking at all the things in there:eek: I think with the help of photobucket and this thread I may be able to overcome that tendency as long as I post all my finished items.... So remind me again what does finished look like????:p :rotfl:
I really had a chuckle at this, its me to a T, and I have just discovered a lovely stash under the bed in the spare room, bought I think during after
Christmas sales so have a nice start for next year. So sorry cannot say what
finished looks like.Sealed pot challenge 5430 -

The baskets are amzaing:T
Altough I was just wondering whether a box is more practical than basket? i mean ..boxes have practical application especially for men (What would your man do with the basket?) As my husband has a huge mess on his desk (always!) I could put his staff into this box:Dwhile cleaning:mad: I like this http://www.bagsoflove.co.uk/tins/photo-box.aspx (the idea of putting photography on it seems to be interesting as well)
21 x 16 x 10cm ( I hope the dimension is approprate? but I can imagine how big it is... ):T0 -

Hi all,
For those of you who are doing christmas gift hampers, I have a few questions.
Im going to do them this year.
Firstly, How do you decide what to put in the hamper for kids? Obviously there are presents I want to wrap but which items do you think are best for a hamper?
Do you buy your bits for the hamper first before getting the baskets? in case it isnt big enough?
I know wilkos do some good small baskets but wheres the best place for larger ones?
Thanks
I start by looking at what I have in the house already that I could perhaps use for a basket or gift bag or box of some kind. I then think about what I could put in it (searching through the products of my shopaholic days - which are hopefully behind me).:o For example, on one of my earlier posts I showed a lilac gift bag - I then looked at what lilac/purple type things I had as a possible present for my teenage niece. Since in the past when I spotted a bargain - 1 was never enough I had to have 2 or 3 or more - then I had a spare lilac pebble journal style book and matching photograph box, I also had some lavender oil still in its box unused, some candles and an eeyore still with its tag (as you do) I found a fluffy purple pen and a heart from a previous present and hey presto a themed "basket".
I since then have done red and green themes. I gave my OH a car themed basket (Asda grey plastic basket 99p) with sponge, demister pad, chamois leather, screen wash, etc... just a shame he recognised most of the items!:rotfl: My advice would be start with what you have - particularly if you need to save money.
When I looked at what I had... apart from gift bags, I have about 3 unused Ikea boxes, plus Ikea baskets plus an assortment of collapsible boxes and crates. I could probably start a small shop or at least a market stall with the amount of "containers" I have in - just in case! I have therefore tried to restrain myself from buying any more until I've used (more of) what I have already got! I made my green themed basket just with stuff already in the house. My red theme - I spent £4.50ish making it more personalised....
I similarly have quite a few picture frames (don't ask me why) . For OH anniversary I cut out a calendar picture from our favourite artist and put it in a posh black Ikea frame. It lookes really effective but was low cost!!! (As long as you forget the frame cost somewhere between £4-8 in the first place)
Hope that gives you a place to start. My definition of a shopaholic... "You know you are a shopaholic when if you were told it was Christmas day tomorrow and you couldn't get to the shops - you would still be able to give everyone you needed to a reasonable present!":rotfl:

I think this is so cute! I'd be tempted to have a go at making one myself though as £39 before you've added any contents is pretty steep:eek: . I reckon you could make a lovely one with a small gift box with a lid (like you can get in Clintons etc) then add an appropriately sized photo to the lid and cover in clear sticky back plastic (the kind you used to cover exercise books in if you know what I mean...) In fact I might have a go at on myself for my hubby. I'll post piccies if it works out.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
