Put together a car wash bucket of goodies for my dad's birthday...

    IMGP2080-1.jpg

Only got a pic of it wrapped as forgot to take one before I started with the cello!

The bucket contains: car shampoo, car sponges x 2, car wash brush, interior wipes, demister pad, insect/tar remover spray, wheel cleaner spray, car air freshner & big bottle screen wash. All bits come from either Tesco or Wilkinsons and cost under £12 altogether plus wrapping. The tag is a wooden door hanger I made for his study door (works quite well as a tag!) :D

As usual it looks fantastic! I am sure your dad will love it!

  • Not a freebie but the Twinings fruit tea bags that come in variety packs are indivicually wrapped. From memory you get five individually wrapped tea bags of four different flavours in each pack, so you could use one or two of each flavour per hamper and that way a box would do severaly hampers. I think they cost about a pound a box.

    Hope that helps.

    thats useful to know, thanks

    Need some idesa

My mother in law last night announced that she ahd accidentalyl ordered 2 jamie oliver flavour shakers as presents and she only needed on. So seeing as she owed me a tenner, I asked if i could have the other odd one and we'd be even and she happily agreed. (what a niceMIL i have)

anyway i was trying to think who i could give it to and i think my dad will be the best chocie. He loves to cok adn does 98% of the cooking in his house with his new wife and hes a dab hand at it. So im thinking a sort of Jamie Oliver related christmas hamper for him.

Now Im just needing some ideas please!!! I have no ideas what cook books he has or anythign like that just that he has a fair few of them. I dont think he has the big 'jamie at home' book though as i saw him eyeing my copy up when he last visited! and i have soem amazon vouchers that could cover this, but im stuck for other ideas from Mr Oliver - how can i makea basket round him

also forgot to add that for his birthday i got him an apron and oven glove set.

kbl - i did my nanna a tea hamper last year (shes allergic to caffeine so can only drink fruit teas)

    In it i had

a pretty pink shawl i found in a local thrift shop

5 x tubs of fruit teas (each was 29p in home bargains and contained 20 tea bags)
    a tea strainer
one of those mini tea for one pots
a pack of nice short bread biscuits to nibble with it.

the basket was only small but deep (form wilkinsons) i managed to wedge 2 tubs in the bottom, then the shawl on top to hide it, then the otehr three tubs and the tea pot nicely arranged with the biscuits.

She loved it and said it was the most thoughtful gift she'd had.

Hi Sammy, keep your eye on out ebay as I bought loads of rubs and spices of his off there quite cheap. Also Home bargains sometimes has them in ... my local one doesn't at the moment bur quite a few others do according to the thread in grabit now!

You could buy various spices from asda and places like that. some balsamic vinegar, some olive oil and if you open up the flavour shajer you could get the spices to match the recipe card which is inside.

That's what I'd do, add herbs and spices and some oil. I've seen Jamie bashing fresh herbs in a pestle and mortar and then adding them to oil to rub over meat/fish etc so maybe one of those? How about some herb seed packets so he can grow his own herbs to bash up and chuck in the flavour shaker?

You're very crafty aren't you, could you make your dad a chef's hat? :D

Forgot to add, oriental supermarkets are good for spices - cheaper than most supermarkets ;)

    Hi!

I went into Wilkos today and got a real bargain! Got a lovely light wicker basket for just £1.99! It will be perfect for my brother's girlfriend's birthday. I also got a flannel for 25p and a body mop for 39p!
I also went into a new shop I found in town that is full of smellies etc and I got her 6 mini bath bombs for 99p and an apricot face scrub for 99p!! Dead chuffed with myself hehe.
