I am badly stuggling with mine   lol Its such a large basket yet I cant seem to get enough wrapping paper equal each side in order to scrunch it up at the sides, can you let me know how you done yours please?
Thanks in advance
I enlisted the help of my daughter lol cos I had the same problem, I have clear film 80 cm wide and I cut two pieces and laid them side by side to increase the width then gathered up the shortest pieces and tucked them into the longer bits keeping most of the gathering to the back so you can still see the stuff inside, it was a mare i have to say!! Good luck with yours0 -

My mil is a girly girl and loves fashion, designer clothes, expensive beauticians etc. and loves fashion mags whereas I prefer books, once I go out with clothes on my back I am happy and not into the fashion or beauty stuff. Could some of you girly girls in your 50's please advise what you would like in your hamper as I am a bit of a loss, also hamper must not appear "cheap". I am aiming to please my mil as she is a nice lady but not sure how to go about it. ThanksPenny xxx

Thank you very much, so all I gotta do now is grab my 13 yr old lol Luckily he will like to help (unlike my 17yr old:mad: ) The wrapping I have is 5 metres at 80cm wide but I have 4 baskets to wrap, 2 are the same as yours, the other 2 are smaller, so I hope I have enough :S Thing is I am useless when it comes to measurements so knowing my luck I will run out lol
Will follow your instructions at the weekend & post some pics of the finished baskets

You could prob save on how much you use if you don't mind having the tied bits at each side like I did for my friends daughter, I used quite a bit less doing it that way - keep me posted!0 -

This is my second attempt to write a reply to you as my pc went belly up so I'm hoping I don't lose my text this time. My Mum is a similar age (and similar tastes) and I've got her the following in the past and it went down very well!
pashmina (ebay for the cheapest deals, I got one for around a fiver)
nice hand cream, body lotion, shower gel/bubble bath and a white (looks posher) bath scrunchie. Try Poundland for this stuff (managed to get Clarins and Evian in there in the past) or Boots in their travel section and look for miniatures of Sanctuary products. Leather gloves (try Tesco, think they're a fiver in there at the moment) and I noticed this book on Amazon which a friend (with similar tastes but in her forties) is hinting for

and place all the items in a nice wicker basket (stick to plain rather than painted ones).CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -
I got some of the fab pink storage boxes from argos today as recommended on here. They are £9.99 for 5 and are very sturdy.

This basket was made using the smallest one and comfortably held a cd, face mask, body spray and choc orange. Got to tidy up the cellophane and change the bow, but was my first ever one made0 -
Hi FZwanab I am in my (early !) fifties and if someone were to make me a hamper (please) I love bath and shower stuff from The White Company called Flowers. It is quite expensive but they sometimes have a sale nearer to Xmas. Also have bought my hubby Fawlty Towers DVD box set but I love it too about £15 from DVD.CO.UK. They have Blackadder & Rising Damp too which I would also like. HTHNothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0

It looks lovely, and you have mastered the art of wrapping ! To say I am envious is an understatement. I bet you feel so chuffed, I know I do and I havent even got to wrap mine yet.
Kinda makes you want to keep them doesnt it and not give them away hehe
Maybe if I do a spare basket and leave it here long enough the kids will get the hint & wrap it up for me for xmas day(I wish)

The key to wrapping with cello is to go in guns blazing! if you faff about with it, you end up in a tizz.
If it is not wide enough to meet above the item, pull the back and front together to meet, fold in the sides and hold with a bit of sticky tape, then gather it all up.
Secure with string first, cut a small length (long enough to go round twice and have ends long enough to work with) tuck one end into your hand holding the cello in place, wrap the other end round twice, pull tight and let go of the cello, Tie as tight as you can, without snapping it.
When tugging it into place, be firm, small nips are likely to tear it.
Once thats done, add your bow and trimmings etc.
You get a nice neat effect if you grab the 'crest' of cello together and trim straight across with scissors. Then, if its long enough, you can fan it out to each side, secure both sheets of cello with a bit tape and you get an interesting fan effect that is nice on square or rectangular baskets.
hope this helps someone! :rotfl:0
