Hi everyone!! This is my first ever post so hope I've done it correctly.
I've been really inspired by this thread and have started 6 hampers for friends and family!! Mostly freebies and bogof deals so not costing a lot at all.
I went to Ikea last night and found some brilliant baskets reduced from £5.99 to £1.99 each!!! They look a little bit like a nest so are a bit different and I wasn't sure about them at first. After getting them home and putting each persons items into each basket I am really chuffed at how they are going to look. A lot better than I expected!! They actually look really professional. Nobody is going to believe I made them!! I will try to post photos when they are completed.
(The baskets are called BRAM and can be found on Ikeas website under "small storage". They honestly do look a lot better in real life!!!)0 -
hi i just got some cellophane from my local garden centre. they had all different patterned ones or simple clear ones and they were rolled up in a bucket near the cut flowers, so that you can make your own bunch. the sheets are 70 cm by 120 cm and cost a mere 35p!!
so go along to your garden centre and grab a bargain hopefully. i would think most garden centres do them in a similar size for a similar price.
hope this helps someone.Compers challenge 2024 wins!!!!.... Oct £60... £10 free spins, £50 palm, m&m pouch0 -

Any tips to wrapping the cellothane? We're doing a wicker picnic basket with a lid if that makes a difference!0

Hi there skint_catt
I ended up standing the basket on the cellophane and pulling up enough at the front and back so it would meat at the top, and then i pleated it down and taped it.. and then treated the sides like wrapping a normal box for xmas.
Yours should look neater as you have a nice straight shape to follow and the pleated bit will disappear down the back of the lid...
i had to have a couple of fiddles with it..but at least it doesn't rip or crumple like paper
