Stopping Unknown calls
Hi,
Been getting several Unknown calls on my mobile from a debt management company. Got the recorded message press 2 to talk to someone [which I did not do!]
Tried to get help from Vodaphone they said they cannot block unknown numbers.
Could not trace the call without Police getting involved.
Why can I not chose if I will accept unknown calls or not?
Why do companies need to hide behind unknown numbers?
Can it not be made illegal to use them?
Kev

Well you may be right, ignoring the call may do the trick. On iphone I can set up a silent ringtone so I would not answer it.
The problem I have is why would a company not want its number known?
Anyway I will take up the advice given
Thanks

Had a call from this company again today, so allowed the guy to got through the whole sales pitch. Was assured it was debt management and not debt collecting.
He asked me if I had credit card debts, I said no
Loans? No!
Mail Order Catalogues? No!
Store Cards? No!
Then simply asked for the companies name DMS and then the phone number
His reply was he was not authorised to give out that information.
Coming from a man who knew my name address and mobile phone number.
He then said goodbye and hung up

If they call again, answer it and say this call is being recorded. see how fast they hang up... lol
If they don't then say: "I am not interested in your service. Please remove my number from your system." then wait for them to say "OK" then hang up.Laters

A quick web search for a company DMS and gave them a call, turns out they have had many complaints and its not related to them but an overseas company.
Would love to record all my calls, only I thought there are legal issues with doing it. [unless they are fully aware]
How can they clear my debts when I do not have any? maybe they are giving money away
Kev0 -
Nope, the legal 'issues' with call recording are simple. At least one party must be aware that the call be being recorded. If you are recording your own calls, that law is satisfied, as it'd be pretty hard to do it unawares :rotfl:0

There is no way to stop it...0
