New York Bagels - pack size reduced

My OH loves the cinnamon and raisin NY Bagels, and I'm a bit partial to them myself. Noticed for a while that often the shop shelves were empty and just thought they had become more popular. Then I noticed that the stock levels seem a lot beter...BUT the pack size has reduced from 5 bagels to 4 - at the same price

So effectively a 20% price increase. Huh! don't think I'll be buying quite so many now.

Tesco do this a lot with their own labels.

I used to buy their iced sticky buns in a six pack for something like 75p but they reduced the contents to four for something like 65p, effectively a price increase.

Are you sure the pack size has reduced?

The website is showing 5 in a pack and Tesco's own cinnamon and raisin are currently (ha ha!) on offer at £1 for 5.

I have in the past picked up a bag of bagels that only had 4 in it but that was because someone had pinched one from the bag!

Sadly not :( The new packs say 4 bagels on them and are made of different plastic to the previous bags.

...and I can't believe someone would pinch a bagel from a bag in store...'what is the world coming to?'

I was annoyed when I realised but it has made me check packs (of everything) from then on and on a couple of occasions I have found extra items in a pack.

e.g. I bought a net of small rubber balls for the dog, the label said 6 but there were 7 in it.

    Every cloud...

Supermarkets bosses should be hung up to dry with the bankers. The only way to get the message to them is to STOP USING SUPERMARKETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is precious little the supermarkets can sell that you cannot buy locally for less money and better quality.

Bagels are a great example. Why bother complaining that the supermarket is ripping you off by giving you less and putting up prices? JUST BUY THEM FROM YOUR LOCAL BAKERY! Support local business and get fresher product, simples!

Flour prices are increasing gloabally hence a price increase in products using a lot of flour eg bagels. Or to stop the price increasing you get smaller portions.

Tesco branded and own brand suppliers will be using the on the whole the same flour suppliers as the small local independant shops

At £1.70 for a loaf of bread, I don't think so.

£1.70 is cheaper than most supermarkets.

And, for your £1.70 you are getting a fresher product, better service, better value for money and are supporting local business.
