I'm having problems with Nationwide. I lost my debit card last Thursday. I phoned up to cancel it (before any fraud had taken place); apparantly my new card will be with me in "7 to 10 days".

But meanwhile, I can't get at my money via online banking because I have no card to put in my card reader.

Bear this in mind when using any bank that demands you use a card reader to authorise online transactions.

You don't need a cardreader for telephone transactions. You can phone up any time of the day or night.

Lloyds internet banking is great and with new money manager due to go live soon this will be a welcomed feature for me, faster payment limit of £15K per day and very reliable.

I know I started this thread, but I know on Nationwide you can log in without the card reader, enter you number as normal, then choose "use memorable data tab" and log on as normal

I use Halifax and Nat West and find them both easy to use. Can not comment on other banks internet banking, however I would recommend either of them to be honest.

Plus their customer contact centres are UK based and you can also telephone your local branch.

Just out of interest, does the money manager cover credit card and current account spending?

    From Lloyds

See your personal Lloyds TSB current accounts and cards together so you get a complete picture, or just choose one.

But once in there you can't transfer any money out of the Nationwide using the online banking service.

In terms of which internet banking is best, that will vary from person to person. My wife likes the ones where you log in with a card reader, like Barclays, as she only has to remember her PIN. She seems to have great trouble remembering the pass numbers and "memorable" information used on other banks' sites. I prefer sites like HSBC's where you can log in and do everything else without needing to lug a card reader around with you. It means I can do internet banking at home, at work or wherever without having to carry the silly thing.

Personally, the best I've used is HSBC, and they give you free access to the last 6 years' statements.
