Their online banking is good, easy to reset if you get your password wrong (which is a nightmare with both Santander and Natwest where you have to wait a week to get a new password in the post!). You get £100 new customer incentive if you have your salary paid in and they arrange for all your direct debits and standing orders to be transferred for you. Don't touch Santander - unhelpful and arrogant! Only draw back I have found with First Direct is that their website is all Black & White (and as a user with poor sight find the contrast difficult) but this can be adjusted on my own computer, though not so easy when using public computers. First Direct also do Internet Banking Plus, where you can log in to all your other accounts (credit cards, banks, savings etc) in one place. As I've only been with First Direct a few months I'm not an expert, but they advertise that you have access for six years to statements.
With Natwest, you don't have to wait for new passwords in the post. You can reset it using your debit card details, plus other personal information. I've done this a few times when I have managed to lock myself outDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0 -
So Thanks all so far!
LTSB seems to be scoring high so far and maybe Barclays and Natwest.
Do any of the above banks have the ability to click on the transaction and see the Vendor name, date and place of sale?

I prefer HSBC to Lloyds but meh.0

Lloyds is by far the best online banking experience I have used.
Pre Approved Offers, faster payments that work, easy log in, safe, payments, transactions all sensible.
It is fantastic.
Santander on the other hand is as basic and useless as the bank itself.0 -
I've banked with Barclays, Halifax, Natwest, Nationwide and First Direct. First Direct are by far the best.
They meet all of your criteria apart from the postcode detail on the transactions you require. You get £100 for switching, an 8% regular saver and the best customer service.0 -

Thanks
with Lloyds the description of the transaction is very clear -
this is an example of a cash withdrawal description

Remember that Lloyds TSB = Halifax.
They now use the same online banking system.0 -

Slightly off-topic but might be of use. If you want to quickly increase/reduce font size at a web browser you have to press
"Ctrl and +" or "Ctrl and -" to increase/decrease font size.
Not too sure if you really want to do this when using internet banking on a public computer, but might be useful for non-confidential pages

I'm having problems with Nationwide. I lost my debit card last Thursday. I phoned up to cancel it (before any fraud had taken place); apparantly my new card will be with me in "7 to 10 days".
But meanwhile, I can't get at my money via online banking because I have no card to put in my card reader.
Bear this in mind when using any bank that demands you use a card reader to authorise online transactions.
