Hi d123
I think the point being made here is you can do what you like, if you want Sky then thats upto you If you budget for it thats fine too Im not knocking that
I found I did not watch that much TV other than Saturday Night movie premiers
So having to pay so much just for 1 nights viewing was a waste in my opinion0 -
Sorry, I havent read the whole thread .. but
my opinion is that you are paying the debts back and thats the important bit.
There are people who come on these forums whose sole intention is to get out of debt without paying it back and that makes me really angry.
Keep the sky if it makes a difference to you and good luck.0 -
i think understanding what you watch on the premium channels is what it boils down to.
I'm assuming the cheapest packages dont work because of sky sports. assuming your OH is a rabid sports nut (much like myself) make a deal that you will switch off sky sports the day the premiership finishes. there's very little on during the summer anyway. see if you can live with just the generic package - halving the price again from where you are now during the summer, and if so, try and carry on like that.
i used to sit and watch anything that was sport and it drove my wife nuts. we had it out and she made some very valid points about how it is just a crutch and meant i was missing out on connecting with my kids. i now only watch matches i really care about and i am gearing up to losing sky sports at the end of this season as I have been made redundant. i'm secretly hoping that i can live without it so that even when we have a sensible income i don't feel the need to get it back.
but if i was in debt then premium sky would be the first things off the list as there are very few things on it that you "need" to watch considering the number of free alternatives that only have marginally less value than the premium of sky - and especially the sports channels.
so i kind of agree with the concept of those who said if you are in serious debt means cancel sky, i just think there are better things to do with that £552 pa than putting yourself in a position where sky becomes your entertainment.0 -

If you post a Statement of Affairs the experienced folks here will be able to give advice on how to substantially reduce your ten year debt slavery.0 -
BRM My other half was a bit like yourself, If it wasnt football that he was falling asleep half way through it was the cricket. BUT he never really paid that much interest in premiership games it was more FA cup which ITV and ESPN are running, He eventually gave me the nod to get rid of skysports. as we are with virgin and had only just upgraded to the all singing all dancing VIP package, when we were notified of mistakes at the council offices which ment we had 3 months of overpayments to pay back
I managed to get things reduced down to £57 a month but that does include internet and telephone! If I had my way i think we'd go freeview! as to be honest theres not alot of the tele we do watch apart from when he watches his footie loli think understanding what you watch on the premium channels is what it boils down to.
