When I was brassic - I didn't even have a TV. Didn't miss it at all. Wouldn't have one now if it wasn't for the darned OH and his DD.

£46 a month, is £552 a year; £5520 in 10 years, how much would that take off your debt and bring down your dmp?

The best thing I ever did was just stop watching TV; it sucks the life out of your life...it leaves you with more time on your hands to think about ways of getting extra income, selling stuff on ebay, doing odd jobs to make your life better, growing veg etc to increase your fitness levels and veg consumption and a gazillion other things that really are much more interesting than - well, whatever it shows these days.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

I'm not sure what's to discuss.
You have debts, and you have money.
Peace of mind and the good life come without debts.

    thanks for the interesting discussion.

We are going to monitor what we watch and how often and review it at the end of the offer.

I should also point out I have a 18 month old daughter so venturing out the house events solo are relatively few and far between anyway and yes disapearing into Hawai 50, NCIS or Army Wives for an hour does keep me just a little bit sane...

I am still pleased that firstly I recognosed that I needed to reduce the cost, and secondly that I managed to practicly half it.

I would also like to say that up until last year I had all my "debts" under control, I paid more than the minimum off, had a 5 year plan to get them paid off. I had never made a late or missed a payment until Jan this year. I'm in this situation because I had an issue with my employer that left me with practicly no income for 5 months, being in a situation where I couldnt change my job. Argueably if I hadnt have lead the lifestyle I had we might have been able to manage through this period but we couldnt.

We are adjusting a bit more every day, and yes we are going to make bad judgement errors just hopefully they will get less and less.

Now for the next hot help topic...

HOW TO GET MY WEEKLY SHOPPING BILL DOWN !!!!!!!!

The rest of the week Sky is no different to Freeview

No, freeview is actually pretty different to Sky, and for people who don't go out much Sky is not that much of a luxury.

If you like watching 5 year old Top Gear on Dave or re-runs of re-runs of re-runs of 1980's TV then get freeview.

If you want the newest top drama from HBO like Boardwalk Empire or Mad Men, or any of the new series like Stargate Universe, Criminal Minds, Lie to Me, Bones, NCIS, Blue Bloods, Hawaii-50 to name a few then you need to budget your 65 pence per day for Sky.

I would hardly call 65p an extravagance......

It's up to you OP but to quote Martin:
'Run through what don't you need.

Ask yourself two questions for every aspect of your life...
    Do I need it?
If I do, could I still satisfy the need to an extent more cheaply?'
Notice it doesn't say....run through what you WANT (or don't want.)
Nobody actually NEEDS Sky, especially at £46 a month.

At the end of the everyone thinks and reacts differently, maybe to one person that is a luxury, that should be culled, but I work on the basis of you still need a life, for me my holidays are my luxury, but I don't go out every week, if I go its 6 times a yr to see something at the theatre get half price tickets, - but like yourself I have sacrified other things to be able to have a small pleasure.

At least you have done something about the debt a lot of us me included have done the bury our head in the sand, thou I have about 4 lightbulb moments, this one is working! But there may have been an option to go bankrupt, but you haven't you've held your head up high and faced the issue full on, and good for you.

Just remember its a lot easier for people to type things, as they don't know the person, whereas they may not say it if it was a friend of theres, xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx
