Getting a bus stop moved

yes the bus stop was there prior to moving into the house but we bought the house of plans and the plans stated the house would be further back then it actually is!
So as a result of your builder (allegedly) not following his plans, you want a pre-existing bus stop moved??? If bought off-plan, why didn't you chase this up with the builder (and possibly the local planning office) before you moved in to the house? You knew the bus stop was there, you knew that double-deckers stopped at it, you knew the house was too close to the road, and yet you accepted all of these. Now you want the bus stop moved ...With the bus stop and shelter being located directly outside the property, it is causing great distress to both me and my partner
If you do succeed in getting the bus stop moved, what about the "great distress" it will cause the people whose house it will now be in front of?0 -

Not so much "NIMBY," but "NIMFG" (Not In My Front Garden). The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

No it didn't 'move' at all. Houses do not move on the plan without months and months of paperwork issues and local government involvement. I live on a new estate and there are 3 bus stops locally, all of them directly outside peoples houses and guess what, they complain too! i see this at every Parish Council meeting.
At the last meeting we had people complain that 'affordable housing' was being built opposite 5 bed detached homes. Comments were 'I will be afraid to be in my home alone' and 'I will need to purchase new locks' etc etc. Thing was the 3 affordable houses were already on the plans when these people bought, but they CHOSE not to see them.

It is not impossible (but improbable) that the developers took a chance. It wouldn't be unprecedented. At the last meeting we had people complain that 'affordable housing' was being built opposite 5 bed detached homes. This is something that is happening in our village. The Nimbies are up in arms. They have spent the last three years spreading rumours and falsehoods about the houses being allocated to "Eastern European refugees" from London. They have sent fliers trying to frighten people into believing they are going to robbed and murdered in their beds. They have told everyone who will listen that the houses are going to be occupied by, "the unemployed, single mothers, drug addicts and criminals and in many cases all four."
The worse thing is they are assuming that everyone else is as racists and bigoted as they are.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Nice one Flyboy...
I was being a bit PC as I am a Parish Councillor! you summed up my thoughts, if I had them..'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.

I can sympathise. I rented a house with a bus stop right outside. The first morning after I moved in (no curtains) I woke up to find the whole top deck of a bus staring at me through the bedroom window.0

While it's all very rewarding for some to lecture the OP about his poor house buying decision, he does now have a genuine amenity problem.
In the first instance I would approach the local authority with responsibility for planning.
I suspect the planning department has the final say on bus stop positioning, but if it doesn't, someone in planning will know who does.
The OP could approach one of his local councillors.
The councillor may or may not be sympathetic, but might have come across similar cases in the past and be able to offer a few pointers.0 -
Sorry, No Never again, the OP KNOWINGLY bought a house with a bus stop outside. Thats a bit like someone buying a house near Heathrow and expecting them to move the flightpath......'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.
