I personally think we should have a load more bank holidays. A few more during the cold, grey, damp & miserable months just to give us something to look forward to.
I once had one of those international diaries with national holidays listed for different countries around the world. We really do suck at bank holidays. India looked like a pretty good country in terms of bank holidays (not in terms of poverty) everyday seemed like they had some kind of bank holiday. Well this was many years ago when I had time to look at stuff like that & had time to be bored. I dont even have time to go to loo at work now.
Anyway enough of my rant.0 -
Yes - it has historical significanceI hope they leave May day alone, as a pagan it's the one BH I can celebrate, neither easter or christmas have any real meaning to me and I use to volunteer to work those days so others could have them off. That said, I would like a a BH in October time (I like the idea of a Trafalgar Day), ideally I'd like it to be an extra BH, but the reality may be one of the May ones has to go.
