Moss Killer?

Hi All,

Does anyone recommend a good Moss Killer for decking, my parents have a wooden deck bit out the back of their kitchen and its like a death trap. I've pressure washed it for them but it just comes back. I have looked at some in the garden centres but Mom's a really keen gardener so i don't want to put down basically anything thats one step removed from industrial bleach. Trying to be a dutiful son while killing her plants would not be good for my health.

Cheers.

I am a keen gardener and use circa 100 ml bleach in a gallon or so of water and apply with a stiff brush. It works brilliantly. I broke my leg in 3 places 12 years back on a slippery patio so dont take any chances these days. I have been using the above method ever since and it has never effected the garden.

    Jeyes Fluid
  • yep, I have used a product called RBT24/7 its quite a new product but not only does it kill the stuff but it stops it from coming back for up to 6 months, importantly its environmentally friendly - worth a look! John

Have used Jeyes Fluid initially before pressure washing. Couldnt really tell if the Jeyes did much, as the pressure washer is vicious. I'll have a look at the recommendation from John on RBT247 not heard of it before.
Thanks for your comments so far, obviously any other recommendations would be appreciated.

Try armillatox - use this to kill moss on hard surfaces and lawns etc. Half the dosage for lawns. It no longer markets itself as a moss killer due to cost of EU licences but still works.

So I've done some reading on the RBT product (rbt247.com) and it sounds really good, I like the idea of preventing the moss growing back. So I've bought some and i'm going to try it out. I'm also going to try the Soda Crystals (thanks for the recommendation) and see if there is a noticeable difference to offset the extra cost.

Will let you know how it differs.

thanks for hints, I am also looking for a way to get rid of moss on block paved driveway
Can I ask if you dilute the soda crystals in water first, or brush onto paving in crystal form and then wash off?
    thanks
