The telephone queue is probably caused by this frenzy from the Shopping Channel. That thread has gone horribly quiet.

You get 40% of your Nectar points instantly then can move to an online tariff0

I am at present on e.on fixonline8 and will be looking for someone cheaper in July, so far BG is the cheapest for me and if I get nectar points it will be a bonus.0

The Terms and Conditions say after 15 days. I don't know if they can transfer you immediately but if they can, its going to cost you £7.50 paying the higher unit rates, to save £20.0 -
Yellowcard,
Just tried to get through to Bg but they say they are clogged up with Nectar enquiries.
I thought from previous research that you only got 10,000 points if you signed up to Standard tariff.
I worked out for an average customer it would cost them £179.02 to sign up for this to earn £50 worth of nectar points.
Can you clarify which tariff the 15,000 points is for ?
I also thought the 10,000 points were paid over the 12 month period,so I don't understand your point about transferring to an online tariff.
I am just trying to be accurate as customers obviously get excited by Nectars, for some unknown reason to me.
We wouldn't want to mislead anyone.
Yeah it's manic, they're just short of 1 million sign ups within a month, the countrys nutty for nectar.
Yeah you're only eligible if the order goes through as Standard but theres nothing in the t&c's that say you have to STAY on standard.
They are over 12 months (see in my original post is said over the first year), i'm not sure how the online tariff would interfere there ?
I did make a minor mistake in my initial post, i though the 15k was if you signed up with dual fuel with energysmart, its actually if you sign up with dual fuel with energysmart OR a service cover.
And yeah the initial points go on 14/15 days after the supply starts0 -

Seeing as you work for BG ill correct that for you.
If you sign up to BG standard they will give you 10.000 nectar points which is (£50). Move to an Online Tariff you get Zilch.
Online Tariffs are usually £hundreds of pounds cheaper than any suppliers standard tariff.
Use a comparison website to find your cheapest deal and don't be mislead.
People who do want nectar on BG Standard will recieve 4000 points after 15 days of supply followed by 1500 every quarter. His Heart Proved He Was A RedSuarez, SuarezWe Bought The Lad From AmsterdamWe Know He's Not a Chelsea Fan.Fernando Torres = El Judas0 -

That should boost BG's profits even more at the expense of the gullible.
As I pointed out, on another thread, moving to the Standard tariff just to get the introductory bonus will cost the average customer about £180 more than the best online deals. Running my own consumption data through gives a cost of £300+
The alternative partial Nectar reward nets a 'massive' £12.50 for a double switch transaction. You of course get all the potential hassle if it goes wrong.
I am just trying to help and give fair and impartial advice.0 -
A few years ago I was getting Tesco points from e.on then I worked out if I changed to a tariff from e.on with no Tesco points I saved money so I changed.
To me Tesco or Nectar points will be a bonus I won't change just to get them.0
