Hi all
I am having problems connecting my PS3 via HDMI with the Samsung LE40B550 (Model Number on sticker: LE40B550A5WXXU)
As I tried to connect the console to the TV via the TV's HDMI4 port (at the side of the TV as it is the most easiest accessible port (as the TV is wall-mounted), it briefly says 'Searching for signal', then after that, it says 'No Signal'
Also, I have tried to link up the PS3 to 2 HDMI monitors, one of which is an LG Flatron W2261VP and a Samsung PC monitor as well, but they still show nothing on the screen
I have tried all the basic troubleshooting methods on both monitors and the HDTV but to no avail, and I was wondering what would I need to do to solve the problem.
Thank you!

tried a different cable?
tried connecting via scart first?
tried a reset? When performed correctly, a console reset will allow you to return your PS3 to its default HDMI settings, without removing any saved games, gamer profiles, or any other personal data stored on the hard drive.
In order to carry out a console reset, you will need to perform the following steps:
1. Place your PS3 in stand-by mode.
2. Hold down the touch power button until a series of beeps are heard.
3. Listen for one long beep, followed to two shorter beeps.
4. Release the power button.
5. Follow the instructions on screen.0 -
I have tried all of those methods, but like I said, no luck0

The SCART works, but not the HDMI - I might consider trying out the PS3 at my mate's house with a different TV or I might try it out with a different HDMI port on my TV0

i had real issues when i first got the PS3 with HDMI
i could go to 720pbut no higher
in the end it turned out to be the cable
fine for 1080p on the 360 but not the PS3
took a few resets to get it running, even with another HDMI cable0 -
Cable or PS3 reset required:idea:0

You hold your finger on the power button for about 5 seconds, after two beeps it resets it to the RCA cable format. When the HDMI cable is connected it will adjust automatically.0

Have you tried hooking up any other HD input source, such as Sky, Virgin etc.
This should tell you if you have a fault with the HDMI cable.
I too would suggest the reset, make sure you are only using the HDMI cable when you do the reset, and also make sure you are choosing the correct source on your tv.0 -
@ liam8282 - I haven't tried hooking up the PS3 to another HD input source, but my TV normally accepts HD connectivity with other devices like my HTPC and the Sky+HD box (and therefore, a picture shows up) - I'll get around to doing that ASAP
@ custardy - gosh it took several resets for that heap of junk to work in HD - I tried the reset a few times but to no avail =(
@ mluton - did that but it failed to work =(
As for $ony, they should go f*** themselves for producing a piece of crap that doesn't support HDMI out-of-the-box
PS: Excuse the foul language0 -
If your tv works with other HD sources like your Sky+HD box, have you tried the cable you are using with your PS3, (on your Sky Box, to see if it is the cable that is faulty).
The PS3 does support HDMI out of the box, but it appears you either have a faulty cable or are not setting it up correctly.
The following guide is a bit old, but should show you how to set it up via the settings, rather than pressing the button to reset it.
