Yes, I agree, the first one is better. The kitchen is bigger and the stairs don't go through the living room. But I wonder why they haven't put any photos of the bathroom or bedrooms as it would appear to be empty.0

Looking at the houses in total isolation from where they are, I tend to agree with tattyuk75, but you know the areas better than we do. You get a garage with the second house, but lots of space for your boys to kick balls around in (I think you said earlier in the thread that you have 2 boys?).
That being said, they do say go for the worst house in the best street rather than vice versa. If both houses are in a decent area, go with your gut instinct. Will you come to mind the darkness of the second house? Will there be enough sunlight at right times of day in the first house; is it the front or back which will get the sun? The back garden is big enough to get a decent amount even if that is on the north side.0 -

Yes there is a garage with house #2 even though i will have to knock through a door to the garage from the front vestibule thing. I can then put the freezer and tumble drier in there, there is no room for either in the kitchen. The lack of living room window is a downer for me. so if someone knocked on the door I couldn't see who it was before I opened the door. Someone on the estate has converted the garage to the kitchen and knocked the existing kitchen/dining wall to make it bigger. This would be very expensive to do though.
No, i haven't got little kids, mine have flown the nest so is just me.Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -
It's only the bit in shadow that makes a north facing garden north facing. The majority is 'any' direction facing except for the shadows (following my strange logic?).
true, the 'marital' home had a north facing garden but was so big that you could sit in the sun all day long.
and I do love my gardening, had my name down for a lottie since I moved to this town a year ago. No real chance of getting one either anytime soon. would have my own built in lottie in house 1
Going back for a second viewing at house 2 in an hour.Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -

It is empty suziesue. They've bought somewhere else with a massive mortgage apparently.
The bedrooms are both a really good size and the third has a built in sort of desk along one wall. You could get a single bed in there but I wouldn't need to. It would be rare (like Christmas perhaps) when son and daughter would both be there. The bathroom is champagne colour so will need re-doing.Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. This property has the better options for you. Other properties in the same road have had major extensions, garages added etc... which means you also have the opportunity of (perhaps at a later date) added the same and by doing that, adding extra value to your home, for when you want to sell it in the future.
This property has good space at the front, side and the back. You could do a side garage with extra rooms above and also make the kitchen into a large dining-kitchen, by going out at the back slightly (finance permitting later).
Lets us know which one you choose....

Property 1 all the way. The desire for an allotment is just the icing on the cake.0

Property 18144279 which is in the road next to the first house also looks really nice and the same price

Property one is miles nicer, that garden alone would sell it for me. You could have veg, chickens, a greenhouse - in fact can I move in too. please. And there's a compost bin ready and waiting for you.
The dealbreaker for me would be how safe the road is - I too have pets and I would never move into a house, however wonderful it was, if the road at the front or back was unsafe - a cul de sac or the quietest of through roads would always be my choice.
If you don't like the bathroom - and you can grow to like anything - it wouldn't be that expensive to change the suite, they're pretty cheap. And if there's only one of you, you don't need to think about extensions or extra space anyway, just enjoy it.
Let us know what you decide. No 2 just looks boring and that garage is overpowering. A garage should be out of the way somewhere, not jumping out at you. I wouldn't care about the front room though, I don't like people walking past peering in at me so being at the back would be good for me, as I'd rather be private.
Def no 1!
