HTML 5 is currently under development, with firefox and microsoft rumoured to be adding HTML 5 support to their next browsers.
One of the main reasons apple does not add flash support is it is very power hungry, which on a mobile device is detrimental to battery life.
Not so much of a rumour. Read all about it at Mozilla.
And a bit on MS as well.0 -

Well I don't, so I'll stop you right there! I'm definitely not looking to buy an Ipad. Sure, it's a really nice handling device - but for that money I would genuinely need a tablet with better connectivity and more uses. I'd want to be able to stick movies on it with a USB flash drive, and to be able to watch those movies on my HD television when I wanted.
It's puzzling why Apple artificially limited it's functionality by excluding basics like HDMI or proper USB support, but at least they are catching up and have included HDMI on the Ipad 2. They are clever at psychology, so obviously there's a deliberate reason for it.
As I said, it's worth holding off buying anything due to the all the new tablets coming out and pushing prices down - and as always, the mid range is where people will find best price/performance.
You obviously do not know enough about the product to form an educated opinion, as You can watch movies on tv straight from iPhone, iPod touch or iPad with airplay and apple tv. Very easy process too.
Also as shown by mr Jobs on the keynote for iPad 2 they have brought a lead out that plugs into the 32 pin connector on iPad then you can plug the HDMI lead from your tv right into it.It said on the box requires Windows 7 or better, so I bought a MAC0 -

I see what you are getting atAt first I thought you were serious; it's too early in the morning to expect me to tell when someone's being facetitous!
Obviously you're making fun of Apple for the overcomplicated and expensive mess they call a solution, and you're right to criticise them: instead of taking advantage of existing infrastructure, Apple make you buy a £100 receiver (Apple TV) and force you to send out yet another WiFi signal into the world (I have wireless off my my router).
I didn't realise the HDMI port on the Ipad2 was limited to a proprietary cable, how much do they charge for that?
To think my year old netbook came with a HDMI port, and all it takes is a standard £3 HDMI cable to get the same thing running on my LG TV.0 -
If you bought a iPad in the couple of weeks prior to the price drop, you have 2 weeks to call Apple and claim a refund of the price drop (or you could claim a full refund to buy an iPad 2).
Just FYI, I'm not an Apple buyer myself.0 -

I would have thought that would be a stop start painful affair trying to watch HD video from a netbook;) It is certainly not a nice experience on my Windows laptop.
For what its worth if I watch HD video I watch on my 27" iMac or stream through the 360 to my TV:beer:It said on the box requires Windows 7 or better, so I bought a MAC0 -
My netbook has higher than 720p resolution 12" screen, so I use it for movies when I'm away from the tv or the main computer which sit on the same desk. It would be quite painful to connect it to the television, but I don't need it for that.
I have a HDMI cable permanently in my TV, which runs down the back with the electric cables, and comes around the side to sit near the HDMI port of my main laptop. It is a simple enough matter to connect the HDMI cable to the laptop when I need it, and I've always found it very convenient really.
So really, I don't actually need a tablet for the home - and for that reason I would want it to have all the functionality it can have in order to justify the price. As nice as the ipad is after having used one, the HDMI output is the sticking point for me.
I dont have an iPad yet but I do want one, not for video to tv but taking out instead of a laptop. I use my iPhone now instead of the laptop as it is more convenient, but sometimes you could just use that bigger screen on the ipadIt said on the box requires Windows 7 or better, so I bought a MAC0
