its may be just a fone, but theft is theft at end of day isnt it their duty to investigate it. out of interest was it a mobile they called from your handset or a landline, was it a local landline. google the area code.

Yeah thats what i thought, especially once i found this number that he called from my phone. It should be someone who he knows, its 07897 number (Orange?)

Also is there any way i can get details of the owner of the this number. I called it and a lady answered and i pretended its wrong number.

I know the place he was or the phone was before mobileme stopped tracking it, shouldn't this be enough clues? at least this will save someone elses phone if thief knows he cant just get away cos he wiped the data off a phone.

I think only the police can trace the owner and only if it is a contract number, not PAYG.
Also I think nowadays it is impossible to link a number to a network just by the first digits.

And if it was a short call the recipient will surely say that somebody just dialed a wrong number.

yeah i know chances are slim, but if i give the details of last call details will the police be interested?

We gave our local Police the bank details of someone who scammed my gran out of £5k. They didn't give a toss.

Thankfully another force had had the guy in their sights for some time and he'd conned over £200,000 in total out of people.

If it gets to a million, it's the job of the serious fraud office.

My Advice is get the phone blocked by imei.

Then keep logging into your Apple support profile, and wait and see if you get a thankyou for booking your iphone into Apple Genius Bar for repair.

Also report your phone stolen to Apple.

The police will not put the resources towards tracing the phone, and the network arent allowed to unless police ask for it.

I am in the same position, although i know where my phone is, currently in Apple's possesion, they just dont want to return it.

With mobileme, unless you had a pinlock, the person who had it, can turn it off, so not much use.

So everyone who thinks mobileme will locate your phone it wont if you leave it open for people to turn off.
    Awaiting Inspiration......................

had the same problem last wednesday.

logged it lost through Immobilise.com who state they will inform the law enforcement agencies (not sure who this is?! haha, with most peoples piggy experience) and block the IMEI.

I have been checking the Serial number on Apple/support and still saying the handset is ok. I have called Apple today and they said they would put a note on my account but nothing has changed regarding the handsets serial number on Apple/support but will let u know if it does.

I'm wondering if u forget to let apple know if they ever get informed by other agencies? and hence the lively trade of 'no signal' (blocked IMEI) on EBay.
