Lost iphone

Hi All,

My iphone was stolen last week. I immediately reported it to police and Orange (my service provider).

As i had registered in with mobileme i was able to see where it was during the time i made the police complaint, The officer just made a record.

I got a letter from local police branch yesterday saying they are closing the case as there is not enough evidence. And i no longer can locate the phone on mobileme.

But when i logged into my orange account today i saw there is a number registered as last call made from my phone, this call is made after the phone was stolen and i'm sure the person stole it made it.

The phone was not insured so i have to pay full to get a replacement.

I was advised that police wont follow up much on these as they'll think i 'll get a new one.

Please advise on what are the chances of finding the thief with these details. Also the phone is smartwatered which i told the officer when making the complaint.

Thanks :)

Maybe - if the call was made to a landline or a contract phone and it lasted more than 30 seconds.

Surely they will not be interested - as they usually aren't until it comes to a severe injury or a murder. However, you can try making them to get interested.

Cops are a waste of time unless it comes to handing out tickets these days.

To much paperwork and police time involved in doing that, they won't do that for the sake of a mobile phone.

I would keep on at them though, you never know.

its may be just a fone, but theft is theft at end of day isnt it their duty to investigate it. out of interest was it a mobile they called from your handset or a landline, was it a local landline. google the area code.

Sorry to go off subject, but I disagree. My son was assaulted by my estranged husband and I would fiercely defend the way the police have handled this. They have been helpful and informative.

Now back to the OP. I would be devastated if I lost my iphone. I would contact the police again and explain again the information you have. They may take another look. It would probably depend on work load and also they do have to prioritise cases.

Big difference between a child getting assaulted and a phone! ;)
