They were dumped outside the front door, no delivery note or anything.
I washed them and dried them prior to using.
They have covered my bathroom in a film of purple dust everyday so I tumble dried them again to get rid of any remaining fluff but it didn't help and everything just kept getting covered.
I rang their helpline , they advised me to take them to my local store for quality testing. They only wanted to take 1, i insisted they took them all as I didn't want them as they were anyway.
I got a letter today saying there was a problem and here's £120 gift card to refund me!!!!!!
What about the delivery charges, my washing and drying costs, phone calls, cost of going into town and returning them ?
I rang them they said they only have to legally refund the cost of the towels
I paid on my card but now i'm lumbered with £120 that I can only spend at M&S. Not happy

Q9. Must I accept a credit note instead of a refund?
It depends on why you want to return the goods.
• If you have changed your mind, then the shop doesn't have to do anything.
• But if the goods are faulty, incorrectly described or not fit for purpose, then you are entitled to your money back (provided you act quickly), and you certainly don't have to take a credit noteOne important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -
thanks but that doesn't really help. I returned the towels within a week of buying them. They have tested them and found them faulty but have only given me a credit i can spend with them. Its their mistake I want my cash back so i can buy replacement towels elsewhere. Why should i be out of pocket for the washing/drying/transport to the shop and back/delivery costs ???'Tis better to have loved and lost than to live with the psycho the rest of your life :rotfl::T:rotfl::eek:0

Tell them that under SOGA the goods are faulty and you are entitled to your money back (not a credit note)
You are also entitled to have the postage refunded as well according to SOGAOne important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -
In fairness to M&S I'm yet to discover a towel that doesn't do that for the first dozen or so washes. I have some raspberry coloured ones in my black and white bathroom that did the same, 3 months down the line they are fine. I've had the same issue with towels from Dunelm,Argos, Ikea and Primark so I assume its more that you notice the fibres more on a brightly coloured towel.0

All my towels do this. I don't really notice it with the white ones but when I bought dark ones for the other half (how do men get white towels so filthy??), I noticed fluff in the bathroom. I can honestly say this doesn't bother me in the least. It's only fluff. But then there's nowt as queer as folk is there? I think it's odd to ask for washing and drying costs back... if you buy something that shrinks in the wash and you take it back, how bizarre to try to demand a couple of quid for the washing powder, electricity etc. Where would it end? Seems rather penny-pinching to me. Life costs you money. Sometimes you're morally entitled to get it back, sometimes you just have to suck it up."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Have to say, loo roll irritates me more.... my work surfaces in the bathroom are black gloss. Every time you rip a bit of loo roll it sends out tiny paper fibres and I have to dust the flipping thing every single day, often twice a day. :mad:0 -
