vodafone shop taking insurance with out my authorisation

Has anyone else had the same problem!!!

I have just called vodafone, to get my online account working again as I could not get logged on. I asked when my plan is up for renewal and also that I was still on the correct plan, which I was

I was also told that I pay for the insurance that I took out in the shop in Sept 2009. Since I do all my banking online and also use 0845 and 118 247 numbers and use the internet on occasions, was unaware that I was even paying for insurance. I said that this is not on and that the person in the shop who upgraded the phone has no right to add insurance withoit my authorisation.

I have been with vodafone of nearly 18 years and even got a phone call saying I was a values customer!! Yeah right, so long as they are taking my money without my say so!!.

Can anyone help as I am so fustrated . many thanks

asked for all the money to be returned and they said no, eventually offering me a 6 month refund. I personally think this offer proves that they are in the wrong.

i have been trying to get through to the shop all day to find out why it is they feel they can fill in forms for the insurance just so they can get their bonuses and get away with it.

Maybe its my fault for not seeing earlier but that does not excuse the fact that someome in the shop has took it upon herself to just add insurance to plan and hope she gets away with it, to boost their numbers.

I am not happy and I am going to cancel my contract and direct debit. just because they are a big company does not mean they should get away with it!!!! I still have 6 months left on my contract.

So for 18 months you have been getting and paying a mobile phone bill and not realised that it has included insurance. Surely you must bear some responsibility for this 'mistake' and as such VF have offered to refund 6 months which I think is very reasonable. Most contracts include insurnace and you tend to have to opt out of taking it.

You cannot just cancel the contract if you have 6 months left.
By cancelling the DD you will just have your credit history ruined.

All contracts come with a paperwork. Check it first, then ask Vodfone to provide you with a proof that you have bought any insurance or authorised them to charge you for the insurance.

I don't quite understand though what "doing all banking online, using 0845 and 118 247 numbers and usinng the internet on occasions" has to do with the fact that you were unaware of them charging you for more than a year.

Sounds like your issue is with the shop not the network.

It's standard to only offer the last 3 months back (so 6 is a win), as you're supposed to be checking your statements monthly and alerting them to any error. Otherwise it could be abused, someone could take out a bundle than try to claim it all back. . .

It will surely be itemised on your monthly bill. Are you saying you haven't looked at a mobile bill in 18 months?

  • Surely the staff in the shop should be checked into.how many other people are they doing this too just to get their numbers up.

What is really sure is that (almost?) all companies do this on a regular basis and the 'staff in the shop' is not an exception.
    All
the phones I've bought from online retailers came with 1-month free insurance chargeable from the 2nd month unless you cancel it.

Very true. And then at the end of the second month the customer notices and calls in and that months fee is refunded.
Which is why you have to read your statements, that's why they're sent out. . .
