Going to Peru to learn Spanish, there is a possibility I might need to borrow alittle

The issue was one the cost, two the weather and three the locations with English holiday bars it was suggested I could work in wouldn't have the sort of crowd I that would interest me. for example while the rest of Spain interests me as a holiday destination, sitting on a beach getting drunk (your regular Spanish holiday for British) doesn't appeal in the least.0 -
In all seriousness OP I cannot see anyone giving you a loan so that you can leave the country,no matter how honourable your intentions are.

Sorry
I only asked what would be best as a fall-back in case I need say a months worth a the end not a method of financing the trip. If I was unclear I apologise.0 -
Firstly, I suggest you get the credit cards recommended for travel.
For low-cost credit, see if you can open an account with Citibank or First Direct. In both cases, the current account comes with an interest-free overdraft facility of up to five hundred pounds.
And I do suggest that you take up the offer made on this thread of information about English teaching. Giving English lessons to business people is likely to be easier to fit around your own language classes than would be the case with many tourism-related jobs.
I do agree that the total cost of learning for six months will be lower in Peru than would be the case in Spain. I must say, most students at the language school I attended became proficient after three months, so maybe six months is longer than you will need. And while there are certainly important differences between European and South American Spanish, they are less marked than is the case with English. I learnt Spanish in Spain (albeit in Malaga, where the language is closer to South American Spanish than is the case in Madrid) and used it to do field research for my PhD in Colombia: no big issues, except that Colombians speak more clearly than do Spaniards.0 -

I understand the difference between European Spanish and South American Spanish but with cost being an issue I chose South America.
When you say proficient do you mean fluent? as this is what I am looking to achieve or very close in speaking, reading and writing. I will need to keep working on it for full fluency but I want to get as close as possible in the 6 month period.
Also given your experience how many hours a day were you learning? I am currently looking at 3-4 hours as any more in my experience and you are overloaded and isn't worth it.0 -
Don't want to be in a tourist resort in Spain tbh (wouldn't like the people who go there) plus too hot for me over there in the summer. Winter and altitude in Peru is much better.
I'd love to be able to afford to be so choosy!! Oh but thats right, I dont owe £2k and wont borrow £2k just to learn a language!
Lets cut this down into basics for you. Would lend your mate £2000 knowing that hes leaving the country for at least 6 months? Yes? What about if he didnt have a job? Getting the picture?
People are finding it difficult to get loans or credit having worked 20+ years in the same job, with decent incomes. Banks are cagey, jobs are too few, and credit isnt given out like smarties.
As pretty much everyone else has said, work more, save hard and take the trip of a lifetime. You can come back without having the worry and pressure of a loan around your neck0 -

Ah gotta love people who don't read the thread. Read the thread if you intend to respond and when you do even if you have criticism you do so in a constructive manner like any normal member of human society.
Unless this is explicitly a troll whereby you just failed at the funny.0 -

I know it's not what you want to hear, but I think the comments in the last post were pretty accurate mate, especially with regards to how the banks are clamping down.
I'm not going to try and advice you because you already know what you want to hear, but I'm not sure even if someone does come up with a magic solution it will be any use.
I think the best suggestion that i've seen so far is get an emergency credit card for the last month or so of your education/holiday as you seem to keep saying that it's only the final part you are worrying about funding?
Accusing people of not belonging to the human society though will just get you lots of similar posts, good luckOpinions are like bottoms - We all have one, just some stink more than others
Service Attributable Pension - War Pension - War Pensioners Unemployability Supplement - War Pensioners Invalidity Allowance - War Pensioners Comforts Allowance - War Pensioners Mobility Allowance - War Pensioners Child Allowance - Housing Benefit - Council Tax Benefit0 -

You really do come across as a complete free loader, a waster if you like.
You are so arrogantly picky about what you want out of life, nothing wrong with that if you can support yourself, but you can't. You expect other people to bow to your "little princess" demands.
a. Not going there, it's too hot :rotfl:
b. Not staying here, it's too expensive :T
c. I'm only going to study for 3/4 hours a day as I will get tired :rotfl:
d. I'm not saving up, I WANT IT NOW!:T
You've already tried to learn the language but failed miserably with demands of "I need more attention to me, I need to be immersed in the culture if I'm to learn" :rotfl::rotfl: ARE YOU FOR REAL????
Sorry but something has gone seriously wrong with your upbringing thus far. Why do you have such a problem with saving money and choosing your own path with your wealth in your pocket?0 -

Erm....
Not a Troll
Not trying to be funny
I did read the thread
I was being constructive
Maybes you should stay in this country and learn the language first, as you dont seem to understand that we are all trying to help/advise and you really aren't hearing it.0
