Nelly.... I use a free program called GIMP http://www.gimp.org/ - it is basically a slightly watered down version of Photoshop but without the £500 price tag.

Just a case of cut the "the" out from where it was, increasing the canvas size and pasting the the back down. After that it is just a case of which file format to save it as... png biggest file but best results, jpg mid sized file and mid results (can vary the quality which will affect size & quality) or gif for slightly smaller file and worst results.
