Paint is useless (only bmp/jpg) so try using Irfanview which is free and excellent.

Im not sure how to when I plonked the screeny in photobucket it lost some shine

probably in ulead cool3d (which i have used before but not lately) it renders the graphics so easily because they are vectors, when you move them across to paint the become bitmaps or jpegs which takes all the 3dness off them
