Anyone Out There That Can Help Me Right Now Please?!?!?! I Have The Service Tag For The Laptop!0

There is no way to track it down. Having all the paperwork in the world wont help you find it.0

unfortunately not, but if you tell Dell, I think they have a stolen list, should someone ring them for support. Also tell the police, it may get recovered one day.
Don't you have any cover on belongings in the car insurance?
Just a thought, do you use messenger/skype?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
i rang up the police station and they said that i will need the seriel number (which i do have) why are they asking for the seriel number?0

In case its handed in0

well i dont think it will be handed in! it was stolen from either leyton or chingford and leyton police were very unhelpful when i called them up, i was given no advice but was just told to contact local police station0

As said before there is very little chance you will get it back.... Better get on and change any usernames and passwords that you had on the comp..0

thanks for reminding me...almost forgot to change all passwords!0

I use msn messenger?0 -
In theory, it could be trackable..(thinking out aloud here..)
If you use a router..
The odds are they will switch it on and connect to the internet at some point..
That will leave an ip trace, especially if you use messenger, skype, email etc..
It will also leave a trace with microsoft, when it does a windows update.
Even if they wipe it, and reinstall windows, it will also leave a trace with microsoft.
If they put linux on, (which is unlikely), then there's not much to trace.
The problem you have is that the authorities and microsoft are unlikely to help you.. but technically I reckon that all stolen windows laptops could be tracked down easily when connected to the internet if the will was there.
If you have friends with messenger, then when it connects to the internet (unwiped), then they should be able to tell, and maybe track the ip for you.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
