mmmm............it doesnt help with the stash, but I've decided that to pamper myself I'm going to have an early night. Been going to bed in the early hours recently so it'll probably do me good.

Just hope I dont end up staring at the ceiling!!!!!!!! I'm a terrible insomniac at times. :(

Phew!!!!! finally got to the end and caught up - only took 40 minutes (and I'm a pretty fast reader too!!!!)

    Firsly...LOL at "the stamp" :eek::rotfl::rotfl:

Oooh there's a free delivery code??????????? Must try and find it!!!!

I'm a bit late for pampering - but might try and paint my nails before bed. Been out shopping with my other half and DD1. She needed inspiration for her textiles homework so we went to look at wallpapers. Then went to Morrisons and bought a shampoo and conditioner for DD while there as she only has the ones in use.

Whiule looking for her magazine I saw the Glamour mag that so many of you have mentioned, but someone had nicked the gift!!

I've been a bt naughty, but since the naughty step is already overcrowded I might just get away with it :D Decided I like the colour of the hairdye I used the other day and thought at £1.99 it was worth buying another one ready for when my roots are showing again. Ended up buying the last 3 boxes :o so I've now spent £7.96 so far this month.

Its VIPDEL, not sure if it's a points passport exclusive, but worth a go???

Sorry I've been awol, been entering codes in the muller comp and wo a £25 zavvi voucher!!! Can't believe it :rotfl:Now what to buy....:D

If in this situation, would it not be acceptable to go into BS and 'test' a hand cream? I'm just thinking for future reference. When mt hands are like that, I could do oodles of damage with hand cream burning so wouldn't want to buy a duff one (IYSWIM).

Actually, I've sent one of mine to bed happy after a lovely foot/leg rub with aqueous cream (all I had). It was accompanied by a lecture. I'm undecided which she enjoyed more :D.

Ok well I think its a combination of factors

Firstly I have always denied myself luxuries although my OH and I are both earning well we live a very basic life, we never go out, don't spend extravagantly on clothes etc. Fragrances have always been a big luxury item for me- i remember my husband buying me once a romance gift set and I nearly killed him for spending so much. It nearly killed me more to open the darned thing and use it.

Secondly I really struggled to get any fragrances in the online lloyds sale and when i managed to get loads last week in on of the shops i don't know why but it did give me a bit of a buzz.

Thirdly I have other issues...long story... I was just thinking actually earlier today how I need to slow down......I'm always on the hunt for baragins or there is something else going on in my life. My life is one big rush, rush, rush. I don't remember the last time I had a bath/soak, I don't remember the last time I spent longer than 10 secs on my make up or 30secs in the shower.

I know I spend alot of my time angry with myself, my husband for being a lazy using toad shirking his responsibilities, my kids for constantly whining and seeing me as the bad guy and daddy as the hero, my partners at work for being such egotistal ar**s, my sister and mum for expecting so much of me.

The shopping is for "ME" and it gives me a warped pleasure. I also like giving gifts and helping people which is why i think i'm in the job i'm in but I do get upset easily as often it is taken for granted that i will give nice or expensive gifts and get tat back in return.

ok off to have a quick shower, see you in a mo:)
Celebrate, your post sounds very much like I was a few years ago.
I somehow found the flylady website. I think she was an angel sent to change my behaviour personally :o.
Your Fistly post: It sounds like your DH bought you the fragrance set because he loves you and thought you were worth it. You need to realise that you ARE worth it. Start to love yourself. Posessions don't lose the love they were given with, with use (IYSWIM?), the love only grows. By using the stuff and pampering yourself, you gain joy from that experience then start recipocrating the love back to all around you. Ever heard of the phrase "pay it forward?".
Your secondly: Ah the thrill of the chase again :rotfl:. Now you know you have lovely stuff that you ARE ALLOWED to use and enjoy, you are learning to let go of the first stage of pleasure seeking.
Thirdly: Slow down! Sit outside on a spring afternoon with the sun on your face and the kids rolling in the mud. This is what memories are made of. Let the washing wait every once in a while!

I think we are all so intent on the fast pace of life, doing this and that and accumulating stuff that we lose sight of how little we actually need. Once you start to declutter and use up the stuff you have, the space tends to grow. You don't alaways replace things because actually that space looks nicer with nothing in it. The toiletries work better on your skin than in your cupboard etc. I'm sure we can apply the analogy to many things.

I know I spend alot of my time angry with myself, my husband for being a lazy using toad shirking his responsibilities, my kids for constantly whining and seeing me as the bad guy and daddy as the hero, my partners at work for being such egotistal ar**s, my sister and mum for expecting so much of me.
Me too! Not so much anymore, I'm learning to let go!
Flylady said she used to get in a spiral and flap and get cross because nobody was helping her. When she switched her thinking to "I'm going to do the washing/ make a nutritious meal/ have a clean and tidy house/ whatever because that's what I want and what makes ME happy" she felt herself letting go of all the negative emotions. She was making her life easier by doing all of this. Minimising your posessions makes everything so much quicker and easier to clean and take care of that it becomes a pleasurable experience to sit in your own home.

I'm sorry if I've spoken out of turn or offended you, it's just that something in your posts resonated with me and how I used to feel. If, by posting this, I am able to help you alter your life even in a tiny way, I will feel immensly proud to have made someone elses life immeasurably better with little effort to myself. If it helps even in the slightest bit, try to read some of the testimonials on the flylady website I think it's www.flylady.com and pay it forward :D.
I actually don't read her emails any more, the first 6 months were enough to change my mindset and get me on track. I still look at the flylady thread on here occasionally as I find it helps me to stay on track but she's worked her magic and I like to spread that fairy dust around.

Those of us who missed the pamper session tonight.... how about a pamper session mark 2 on Wednesday evening? That's what I shall be doing. Love and hugs to all who need them.

  • I think I might have found my Holy Grail foot product - S&G Heel Genius. I put it on last night before I went to bed and my feet are sooo soft this morning (not perfect yet but so much better than they were a few days ago), I keep stroking my heels because I can't get over the difference! There are still a couple of foot products I want to try out to make sure that this is right for me, but so far so good :)

I am however really resisting the urge to get the £40 S&G Boots set that was in the MSE email this morning - granted there are only about four things in it I want, and two of them aren't even being discontinued, and I know if I can't try the other two then I'll never know if I loved them and therefore won't miss them... but I still want it!!!

Morning Guys! Pamper party sounded fun, sorry I missed it but was out all evening, will be doing mine tonight and will post what I used.

Couple of ins for me today, is my birthday so they were gifts. My lovely kids bought me M&S Isis perfume and body spray, I love this and it is a really good likeness to L'eau d'issey, the m&s stuff is a few pounds a bottle and the Issey Miyake stuff is £48. Also a clinique gift set containing 50ml moisture surge, mini de-puffing eye roll on and mini superbalm gloss.

Bit miffed that I can't have a drink today because of tablets and tomorrow am meeting friends for birthday drinks and I still won't be able to have any, don't know how much of a difference it makes to the meds working but I don't want to risk it.

Also have a splutterer, avon tea tree and mint shampoo, wiba? yes, have already ordered one to replace, great for £1, don't even need conditioner after, that said I do have short, very well behaved hair.

Morning all, hope you all enjoyed pancakes and pampering yesterday! I missed the pamper session as I was staying at boyfs yesterday, so I might treat myself and have a good pamper session tonight, try to start using up some of the splutterers in my stash!

Congrats on your news. This part of your post reminded me of the programme Spendaholics. I often wonder what Benjamin Fry and the other presenter would make of all the money I spend on products. I do remember there was a time when MrM commented that I didn't make an effort and then whinged after that (once the obsession kicked in) that I was "becoming high maintenance!".

Thanks! I've never seen Spendaholics - perhaps I should! ;) I love that us girls can't win! High maintenance indeed... bah - they complain if we don't make an effort...!
Forgot to mention the free Herbal Essences samples of shampoo and conditioner.

I think we would all agree yet more shampoo and conditioner is the very last thing I need! :D plus I already have a 75ml and 2 sachet sets of this one!

Right, now to go and catch up on all the posts I've missed!

    Morning all!

By the time I got back from the airport last night I was too tired to finish listing my stash however I am planning on leaving work on time to get it done once and for all tonight!

I did have a mini pamper session though which was much needed as there had been a power cut yesterday morning which meant I had to have a cold bath and I didn't wash my hair as I couldn't dry it. Also I had to apply my make up in the dark so I looked a right fright when I arrived at the airport at 7am! Anyway! I used the following:

Scottish Fairy Dust Bath Salts - UU - this was a home made little bag that I picked up at a craft fair with my mum and have had for years. WNBA as it left the bath and myself and subsequently the bedsheets covered in glitter.

Pantene Clarifying Shampoo - love this stuff and use it once a week to remove any product build up. Also thinks it prepares my hair for any intensive conditioning treatments applied afterwards.

Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends Intensive Conditioner - this was an IN this month and it's alright, nothing special. That'll teach me.

Olay Self Heating Exfoliator - Have loads of these in my stash so trying to make a dent in them! They're not too bad though - seem to do the job well enough.

Sanctuary 10 minute Moisture Boost Mask - Love this and as I have quite dry skin I keep it on longer than the 10 minutes - sometimes overnight! Makes my skin feel much softer.

Will be on again later tonight with My List of Shame. Go gentle on me.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

    xx
