I had a uu body shop tea tree night moisturiser and took it into my local origins counter (John Lewis in Bluewater) and was allowed to choose a sample! It's great because they recycle all the stuff properly and you get a good little freebie!

Hi ld - could you sell some of the body lotions on ebay? Or gift them? Sending you hugs for the house sale. And a lovely excuse to have lots of extra pampering sessions to help use up stuff :D

I've tried selling them on ebay before but I think as they're Avon ones they don't send to sell. The only reason I think I have so many is I used to buy them in the sets of other stuff I used to buy and think I'll get round to using them but never actually did. I'm making an effort to use them up on a daily basis now so hopefully they will go down eventually.

Funnily enough I haven't bought any body lotion since I don't know when so don't have a problem with buying when not needed, more using when needed :rotfl:

Had my mum and sister come round today to help tidy the house for the valuations next week as kept being sick this afternoon for no reason. It was nice to see them though and spend some time with them even if it was whilst doing housework.

I second the comments about how long products last. My 250 ml shampoo and conditioner have already lasted about 3 months, and are still going strong.

I've been using a 250ml bottle of shampoo that I started using at the end of September and although there's not much left it's still probably going to last me a couple more weeks and that's washing my hair six days a week. So I've worked out a bottle of shampoo will last me on average six months.

@celebrate That's quite interesting about all the shopping you are doing for your sister and your mum. They are possibly causing your problems more than MSE is. It's absolutely ridiculous for your sister to act all disappointed because you didn't buy her the cheap sanitary towels:eek:

That sort of reaction is only acceptable if it was some posh product that was an amazing bargain or something you know she'd love.

Can you tell them you don't have the time or money to be driving around doing their shopping. It sounds like most of what you buy isn't even for you especially when you don't even use many toiletries. If it was just the perfume which clearly you love, you wouldn't be any different to lots of us.

I've now got hold of my second Glamour magazine, this time with the Moisture Surge and so will leave it at that!

I've had a few UU's over the last few days:

John Frieda Shine Release Brilliant Brunette Enhancing Shampoo. WIBA? Yes, this is my HG shampoo - I have one more in stock.

Dove Silk Glow Gentle Exfoliating Shower Scrub. This was part of a gift set from about 3 years ago. It smells lovely and is a very gentle scrub.

FCUK Polished Whipped Body Cream 75 ml. WIBA? Oh yes definitely, I'm sad I've used this up - it smells divine.

The Somerset Toiletry Company Soap. WIBA? Yes. I am pleased that I have at least one more tablet of this soap left. It had a nice subtle fragrance and had a lovely creamy lather. I have to confess that I had uu half of the soap and then my OH carried on using it when his Imperial Leather ran out. I will now give him another one of my soaps to use, as I have plenty of them!

    Hi All,

I've got 3 UUs to report: S&G Glad Hair Day Shampoo - WBA if it was cheap and if my stash wasn't so huge! Creightons 3 Minute Hair Repair Treatment - not sure if I WBA, it was ok but not brilliant but it was from my local £1 shop oh and lastly a VO5 Hot Oil WNBA it was the last one out of my stash which I'd had for years.

I've been reading other people's posts on here about their stashes and the thrill of the chase. For me at the moment I'm concentrating on my toiletries buying - I started the year with 224 different bits and pieces (not including my make up) and my plan is to get to December with alot less than that in my stash. I feel that once I've got this part of me under control I will start trying to better with my make up. I am making myself use up a BS eyeshadow compact that I've had for at least 7 years before I use up any other eyeshadows. I haven't made a list of my make up yet - but when I get down to 100 toiletries I promise to list it.

On a side note others have been posting about the thrill of the chase and doing things so that they don't end up going to the shops... Has anyone here considered Geo Caching? (to be fair I haven't been myself yet), but apparently all over the UK people have been hiding bits and pieces (to my knowledge not toiletries!) and there are clues to follow so it's a bit of a treasure hunt. I'm thinking of doing one in a few weekends time when the weather's a bit better. It'll hopefully keep me out of the shops at the weekend and away from temptation!

Thanks Tracey2609, not heard of Geo Caching, sounds fascinating, sounds a bit like that thing a few years back with books. People read a book and wrote their name in the front then left it somewhere for someone else, like a train or bus. Lovely ideas which put a smile on someones face.:D

    :A no in's :)

two binned: Spell wet and set - it's a product to make pigments into a liquid liner type thing. WIBA - NOOO!! this feels like slimy water and makes eye shadows look weird as.

Est.Lauder lipstick in sugar honey , had to bin it as the lipstick fell off on to the floor . oops . WIBA - I love this brand but no, the colour is too dark.

UU: lush fairy dust shower gel - smells amazing , got it in a xmas gift box

WIBA - Yeah this is my second tube! :D

I have not bought anything in almost a month , that feels good but my current stash is annoying me , seems to take over alot of space!! :(

OOOOOH ALMOST FORGOT ONE IN!! but i din't buy it was a early birthday gift!

Paris Hilton - Fairy dust perfume - smells amazing my new favourite and my friend who bought it new I only had 4 perfumes in my stash :P

Hi to all the newbies

Managed to read thru and big hugs to those who have been poorly.

Well..... I bought 2 Magazines. One had the 7 day face scrub. I've never used it before so :o what does the 7 day mean?? Or am I just being thick :D

The other one had the eye make up remover, which I like. Everyone is raving about the moisture surge moisturiser. Please tell me why - and does it have an SPF? It may be worth getting anyway as it's only 2 squid and could sell it on ebay. ;)

Goodnight everyone - and see you soon :)

7 Day Scrub is designed to be used daily, apparently. Personally I never have - I tend to use it as I would any other facial scrub, so 2 - 3 times a week. I wanted the magazine with the mini tube of it as it's a product I take when I go away so a small tube is useful!

As for the Moisture Surge, it's a really good product if you are going anywhere that you know will dry your skin out badly - we holiday in the Outer Hebrides and I just know that the wind & weather up there dries my skin beyond belief, so ideally this is one of the products i like to have with me when we go. No way could I afford the full size version right at the moment but the mini becoming available is a godsend! I would imagine it would be very good for anyone expecting to go on a long-haul flight too.

No ins or outs for me today. Been in bed all day and just had steak and chips for breakfast. Watching Night and Day and then going to have a bath before w*rk. Not to bad a night last night, I managed to get a break which was good but lots of people coming in and getting nasty vomiting viruses within hours of admission. Poor things, I hope I don't get it though!

Ugh - is this the Norovirus thing? Our local hospital have had an outbreak recently which was worrying as MrEH had to spend a couple of nights there last week. Thankfully he seems fine. I did take the precaution of making sure that all the clothes he had with him went straight through the wash though when he got home, may not have been needed but better safe than sorry.

Welcome to all the newbies but especially Celebrate - you do indeed sound like you desperately need to break out of the cycle of behaviour you've fallen into. I'm afraid I have to say that your sister in particular sounds like a really ungrateful person. You're buying stuff for her to save her money and yet the main reaction she has to it is to complain you haven't got her enough?! It sounds to me (please don;t take this wrongly) as though you are craving approval from both your Sister & your Mum, but it also sounds like they are simply not the sort of people to give this approval to you, but they will just expect more, and more, and MORE! Next time your sister says something along the lines of "I wish I had xxx fragrance" why not respond that, you'll make a note that she likes it and pop it on the list as a possible christmas/birthday present? Ditto if she comments that you could have got her "X" while you were out, how about offering to keep your eyes out and let her know when there is next an offer on the product that she might like to take advantage of?

Excellent advice from Kaz and Jacks as well as others - don't have a lot to add but.....could you add up the total approximate amount you have spent over the past - let's say since late December as otherwise it's including christmas present spending which would be unfair - and see what the total is? Then multiply how much you will spend in the course of a year if you carry on as you are....the figure will scare the life out of you by the sounds of it!

No UU's to report here, but I did make use of some time on the train yesterday (we went to Chester for a day out for a friend's 40th) to paint my nails. A while since I've done them so that was good!
