am i the only person on this thread that doesn't wear nail varnish??
:rotfl:
feeling a bit left out lol!
Nope - I generally don't. I've had I think 5 varnishes in my makeup bag for years - a light pink, dark pink, silver, and then french manicure ones - I think I've used the pinks a couple of times each, not sure I've ever used the manicure ones (or I have and then wiped it off straight away for being so wonky!!!) :rotfl:
I do however have a bit of a penchant for false nails - hate the acrylics as I don't like the idea of my nails being filed down underneath and damaged, but I have only this morning finished off a pack of stick on ones so my hands look lovely and grown up for a change (my nails are always breaking!!)
I have tried the Shellac gel nails once and was massively impressed - no damage to the nails underneath, lasted 2 weeks with no chipping at all, and as a french manicure the growout wasn't too bad either - so would happily recommend if anyone was interested!
Other UU to report -
Colgate Sensitive toothpaste - WIBA, probably, although I prefer the colgate total etc as they have a slightly stronger minty taste so I feel cleaner!
Corsodyl daily mouthwash - WIBA yes, although when on offer I think. Don't love it for the yucky taste (even the mint one!) and that it burns slightly! But I tolerate it as I hope it's doing something good for my teeth.
Aveda Damage remedy shampoo WIBA yes. Already have done - but I admitted to it in my last post so no naughty step for me!
Aveda Colour care shampoo WIBA no as I usually don't have coloured hair. This was a 50ml sample size as I wanted to try Aveda products, and had just had my hair coloured with a gloss at the time.
Have to say, I've been impressed with the Aveda hair stuff so far, not least of all because the shampoo and conditioner lasted almost the same amount of time! I'm usually a 1 shampoo to 2 bottles of conditioner girl, so end up with lots of random shampoos and nothing to use with them!
I did have an in but it's not for me - a new aftershave/cologne for my boyfriend as today is our 6 month anniversary!(Being taken to the ballet tonight... yay - for me anyway, possibly somewhat boring for him so he gets extra points for effort!!) :T:D:D
Am currently back to catching up - I need to stop doing things at the weekends so I can stay on track with this forum!!! :rotfl:on page 71 now...0 -
Bumper UU this morning.
Elemis Cleanser 200ml Really liked this and felt that it worked well with my skin. It seemed to calm down my spots.
Elemis Toner 200ml Again liked this not too drying for my skin.
WIBA - Yes but not now as I am now moving onto Clinique Liquid Soap and Clarifing lotion.
Ooooh, I have my eye on an Elemis cleanser and toner (once I've finished my current stash, of course!!):A - any recommendations/warnings gratefully received. I have fairly combination skin - I literally can get dry flakey patches with oil slicks on top on a bad day, on a good day I tend towards a bit oily as the day goes on... I think I'm massively dehydrated though (drinking lots of cola and very little water, another habit I need to kick!).

The Aveda hair stuff is really very good. It's been my HG range for ages nowNot buying unnecessary toiletries 2024 26/53 UU, 25 IN0 -
I have finally caught up! Some UU's to declare Tesco Coconut conditioner WIBA probably not it was really runny and didnt really make my hair feel like it had been conditioned.
UU Benefit LipGloss - Loved this so much so I got the top out of it so that I could scrape all the sides WIBA Yes!
UU Champneys Rose hand cream - WIBA maybe it was nothing special and I have another one already as I bought them half price in Sainsbugs and I have a further 6 tubes of handcreams!
Ins 3 x Avon supershock gel eyeliners got these as they were only £2 each in the clearance and I love em! Also a BS lemon lip butter and a Vit E illuminating face cream from the 50% off.
I have done totally rubbish this month April is defo no buying!!!0 -
A quick pop in and ask a completely OT question before I go back and read todays posts.
Anyone got an Ikea Ektorp sofa? Can you give me a review?
I've asked this over on in my home but had no replies yet here's the thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3127062

Hi Kaz!
In regards to the sofa its not bad - have you been to try it out yet in IKEA? Personally I think its quite comfy
Having had ours about 7 months the only thing I would say is due to the way OH leans on the back of it the back cushions need plumping every so often but the seat pads themselves wear fine
It also was fairly simple to put together although does need 2 people (as I found out when I basically had the thing on top of me trying to put it together)
Would I get another - Definitely its been pretty hard standing - and best of all if you want a new colour you can just buy a new cover rather than having to get a whole new sofa...MFW 2020 #111 Offset Balance £69,394.80/ £69,595.11

Lots of other stuff included trying looking here to see if what you buy is on the list - it includes own brand stuff as well. Suggest you read the T&C on the Tesco grabbit thead to get your head round it all first though.
Cheers - I had a quick look at the Tesco thread and it doesn't seem like it will be worth the effort for us :rotfl:Nice to know it works for others though (or worked if they're already fudging it )juliebunny wrote: »Sarah - did you find your pampering gloves yet to get with your No. 7 voucher?
Nah! Nowhere in Brum has them in stock - ended up ordering some from my Avon Repjuliebunny wrote: »So I've decided to be a marine biologist, because that sounds like it might be fun and involve lots of travel to warm places and using loads of lotions to keep my skin soft!
What does everyone else want to be :rotfl:
Before I got sick I worked for the Probation Service (just Admin - nothing special) and I'd love to be able to go back to that ...... or win X Factor :rotfl::rotfl:If it works the 1L bottles of Baileys will have cost me 81p:D, down side to this is I don't consider baileys alcoholic (even though it quite obviously is) and down glass after glass without thinking and once I added up all my units for 1 week and it was more than a mans allowance and I always say I don't really drink much:eek:.
:rotfl: I'm only allowed Baileys (well .... Aldi cheap version) very occasionally as a bottle can go in a whooossshhhh!!!

oooh - I love the hand saviour but it's not a cream it's a scrubam i the only person on this thread that doesn't wear nail varnish??
:rotfl:
I don't often - and never on my 'real nails' - I can't grow them for love or money so wear glue-on falsies when I can be bothered. I have a few polishes - mainly freebies from magazines/coke promo's but haven't worn them for over a year now. I have a problem with my nails and tend to bite/tear them all the timeWearing the false ones gives them time to recover from my attacks on them as I can't pick at my cuticals with them on
in your experience how long do lotions and potions last before they are unusable or embarrassing to give as presents
I just gave a box of fruity shower gels to my SIL that DD got for her 13th birthday (she's 16 now). I had to peel off some tiny labels that said BB End 2010 but they had never been opened and looked ok
I second the 'don't give it to people who follow the sales' advice - OH got a gift box of Ted Baker stuff off his mum for xmas and I knew it was a regift as it was the 2009 packaging :rotfl::rotfl: (not that we mind a regift I just thought it was amusing - OH had no clue of course)
juliebunny wrote: »Maybe my cats will get me a mothers day pressie :rotfl:
Why not - my dogs get me one
Haven't been on for a few days as we've had the weekend from hell  OH and I ended up doing ALL the work for the suprise 18th party that DD was supposed to be organising - and she was an ungrateful little madam - way beyong normal teenage insensitivity - it was calculated ignorance and I've been sick all weekend with the stress and exhaustion  She has a very big hill to climb before I do anything remotely helpful for her again - even OH (who is usually far too tolerant) is furious at her behaviour. *sigh*
Did I mention that my brother (in the Army) is going to be a daddy again? :T Well now so is my step-brother :T That will make 14 nieces/nephews - lord only knows how we're gonna afford it  Thank heavens for post xmas sales :rotfl:
Right - the interesting stuff
UU's
Imperial Leather Bubble Bath - yep! gone already  Gave him the bottle on the 16th and he emptied it last night - bearing in mind he didn't have a bath on Friday it lasted 5 baths :WIBA? No - OH didn't like it
Olay Sample 7ml: This lasted quite a while for a sample - and I was using it on OH as well: WIBA? yeah maybe - will see how I feel when it's time to buy more day cream
Wella Brilliance Shampoo Sample 50ml: WIBA? Depends on the price - it was OK -nice and creamy and lasted 5 washes and I swished the bottle to get the last bits out for another 1/2 a wash.
Wella Brilliance Intensive Conditoning Treatment Sample 50ml: WIBA - yeah I think so - only got 2 uses out of it but really liked the softness of my hair afterwards :T
Olay Foaming Face Wash: WIBA? No - didn't like it - there was less left in the can than I thought - it still seems really heavy but nothing else is coming out so I'm gonna call it empty - not like I can cut the can open and look
IN's
£land Pomegranate Body Lotion - though I think it's more of a light body butter
£land Pomegranate Showergel - gonna use this as a handwash I think - both passalongs from DD
Nutrogena Wave Cleanser & 44 pads - ebay £4.99 delivered - liking it - thanks for the advice :T
I managed to completely avoid the BS 50% off thing and will be averting my eyes if there is another Groupon this week - thankfully (like the last one) it's coming during the one week of the month when we don't really have any spare cash
I've been using the Simple Vitamin Night Cream and I'm not having any skin problems at the moment - I also like the Boots Vitamin E creams too - I'm using the cleanser/toner and day cream from that range at the moment and like them
I know it was days ago but all the talk of eyeliners reminded me of a little tip - if you keep your eyeliner in the fridge it's easier to sharpen and goes on smoother - same with lip liners and nail polishes
Does anyone want a sofa? We've got one going freeI'm going to look for a local homeless/rehoming charity but you lot can have first dibs if you want
Finally - how did the interview go vicster?????
