No Buying Toiletries in March Challenge

Hi All,
3 UUs for me - Sanctuary Body Wash WNBA - I really don't like the smell, Searenity Hand & Body Lotion WNBA - didn't think it was very good at all, Mark Hill Brunnette Shine & Control Spray WNBA - It's ok but I prefer the Umberto Giannini Spray. It's taking forever to get through things now as most of the bits and bobs I've got are full size.
By the way my local poundshop had Johnsons Dreamy Skin Lotion (in same packaging as UK - although different language) it smells exactly like the one in my stash - I checked in Boots and it's £3.05 ! Although I've got loads of body lotions to use up - I'm sorely tempted to stock up as I really like the smell of this and it just may be my first HG.
By the way does anyone remember the scene from the film Silence of the Lambs where the serial killer says "it puts the lotion on it's skin and then it rubs it in" - I think that this should be the motto for this thread! (Along with the Pink Rose Candle of Course!)Always be yourself, unless you can be a Unicorn - then always be a Unicorn !

I saw that too, along with the Clarins Skin Illuminous and Lancome Teinte whatever... But going to go sample the Max Factor as recommended by ACCA - thank youJust hate changing cos of the 'faff' with getting the colour right.

Its shocking about Japan... Julie hope your job will be ok - what do you do???Challenges - repay all credit cards by end of 2015Starting the savings for retirement :rotfl:

Bit of news - I've got a job interview/assesment thing wih Boots as a No7 account manager. Not sure of that's a good or bad thing :rotfl:Don't think it's a mega good thing as it was kind of 'book it or miss out' kind of thing. Apparently it's a interview and analysis excercise - anyone got an idea of what the analysis might mean?
Didn't buy any Liz Earle - I've got loads of lovely things and DO NOT NEED IT! However I did buy a body spray, kabuki brush and john frieda intensive conditiner sachet :rotfl:

2/the one I had at Boots seemed quite good value as there was a free gift plus the money off goods(this was last years offer)I decided against using the one this year as just had a facial as a post christmas pressie anyway.A classic facial at my local salon is £35.
3/ if you dont want to spne a lot on products suggest you buy something like shower gel or handcream which are "relatively" cheap from clarins I used one gwp size on holiday and it lasted 10 nights with 2 of us using it 1/2 times a day so lasts well as you don't need much. The cleansing melt is alos good and not too costly
hope this helps:)
Thanks, I have way too much Clarins moisturiser so was thinking of trying the cleansing melt, I have the Elemis version at the moment and its lovely, and the orange exfoliating wash, I'm sure it's had a couple of good reviews on here.minerva_windsong wrote: »I have to admit I've had a similar experience - swapped my usual hairdresser when I was at uni (Saks) for the one round the corner from my house, and it was terrible. No frills as expected but it was the little things like not brushing the hairs of the back of my neck that really annoyed me. But my best mate has been to Supercuts a few times and says they're pretty good.charlie792 wrote: »Just wanted to give my two cents about supercuts....All in all Ive found they arn't terrible, they do the job but to be honest the service and quality really seems to vary between the stores - also there seems to be no consistency in their pricing!
Had my hair done at 3 different stores, the first two were pretty good (Gloucester - really friendly too) and (Cribbs) which was ok but my local one in Cardiff is pretty rubbish, staff are so rude there and to be honest didn't really give me what I wanted - left it a considerably longer than what I wanted and spent the whole time talking to some chav women who reeked of smoke talking about getting drunk....
Prices for the exact same thing varied between £22 to a whopping £37 which seemed stupid to me as I could have got it cut at one of the posher places for that much but anyway (also thier prices quote from £20 for a cut and blowdry - which is what I get).... To be honest as Im unlikely to be going to Gloucester or Cribbs anytime soon I think Ill avoid supercuts for my next chop
After visiting Supercuts to book today I'm really not sure about it so think I'll give this particular branch a miss, I might try another location in the future. On my first attempt to make an appointment I found the salon to be untidy with hair not only on the floor in the salon area but also some in the front "shop" area. There was only one member of staff who was cutting a client's hair but I was not even acknowledged! I returned later there were two members of staff now but still hair in the "shop" area. I was told for a CBD on my hair the cost would be £31 but no appointments just turn up and wait. So, I'll give this a miss it seems expensive for the level of non service and as for no appointments just take a seat and wait:eek:I could be there all day.
I used to pay £10 for a wet cut (hate having it blow dried as it always makes me look 20 years older ) but have to find a new place now as my favourite hairdresser has moved away and the other's aren't quite right(hence OH 'trimming' my dead ends :rotfl:) The average price in our town is about £25 for C&B.
RE: Supercuts - it's worth trying it at those prices (in fact I think thats where I will go next!) With salons closing due to high costs/recession etc they can have their pick of the 'stylists' who used to work in the salons that used to charge £50/£60 for a C&B
Unfortunately not the case in the branch I visited today!0 -
minerva_windsong wrote: »The expensive clothes/beauty products is another thing that annoys me about these magazines. Who's got £445 to spend on a night cream?! I admit that I'm prepared to spend quite a bit on decent skincare, but - and this is the crucial part - only if it works for me, not because some beauty editor tells me I should buy it.
I yearn for the day when someone is going to come up with a magazine that has proper insightful articles about world events and interviews with proper role models for young women (not necessarily celebrities), but with the clothes and beauty products at prices that a normal person might be able to afford - basically the articles from Marie Claire and 'old' Glamour, albeit with fewer celebs, crossed with the fashion pages of More.
Excellent idea for a magazine, it would make a fortune.thevicster wrote: »Jeez, that is expensive! I get a colour, cut, wash and blow dry for £36 and I live in Bath. (el expensivo for EVERYTHING!) It is on the outskirts of Bath though, so maybe you could try looking around the edges of Liverpool for a decent looking salon? Might be a bit cheaper? I LOVE my hairdresser, he's fab and I just let him do what he wants and he brings me trashy old lady mags and coffee :rotfl:
Uh oh! I need to know what this is now!
Couldn't agree more, I used to love Glamour too
I'll try the outskirts of town as I don't live in the city centre anyway, it was just a convenient location to travel to.0 -

Celebrate, EssexHebridean, Sarah*a (and anyone who I might have missed!) thanks for asking about my friend. One of her friends posted a message on Facebook to say that she's safe, as is her dad, but her mum and grandparents are missing and her town is completely destroyedWish there was something I could do but don't suppose there is, not over here.
Glad your sister's okay Mcculloch29 :j, that's great news.
Lemon Tree, I don't think I've washed a hairbrush in my lifeI used to pull all the hairs off mine each time I used it, but my mam got annoyed at me leaving my hair all over the floor, so I stopped. I should probably wash them at some point - it's one way to use up the shampoo!
Hope you had a great holiday Rosemary54.
How awful for your friend losing half her family like that. The coverage on the news is still enough to send shivers down the spine isn't it - however you;d pick yourself up from living through an experience like that god knows.<SNIP>
One UU this morning: No7 Advanced Hydration Day Cream (15ml): WIBA? I don't think so - was nice and thick (like I like them) but left an ever so slight greasy film. Could have been the age of the product so wouldn't be put off if I got another in a GWP but I wouldn't buy a full size until I've tried it again.
<SNIP>
I wouldn't bother if I were you - you've come up with almost exactly the same complaint I had about it!rosemary54 wrote: »anyone seen a new foudation from Clinique that is a mix of moisture surge and foundation or did I dream it?My current summer foundation is Clarins moisturizer/colour but now I have a tan it is too light and my YSL one is too heavy for summer so thought I'd try a new one(esp if its bonus time:))
Yes, it's the replacement for the Moisture Sheer Tints and is due in the shops some time in April I think (at least in Boots anyway, which was where I asked about it) There will be more colours in the new one too which should make it easier to get a good match to your skin tone.
Nothing to report here again - my shampoo and conditioner are bpth getting near their ends but after Thursday I will be using less of both as I shall have 4" lopped off my hair to bring it back to the shoulder length bob it was before I failed to go to the hairdressers for a year! :rotfl: Eye Makeup remover is also down to the last bit but a few more days yet I think, and the bathroom soap is getting thinner.
