eggs eggs and more eggs has HEAPS of suggestions! Also - dates on eggs , how long do they keep for?
I rely solely on the float test and used eggs the other day which had been in my cupboard for about 7 weeks and they were perfectly fine - as they sunk to the bottom of the bowl of water
i can highly recommend this recipe - the sponge cake is so light and moist! the cake itself uses 6 eggs, and it's flourless - eggs and sugar and cocoa powder. I would buy the chocolate mousse as it was a faff but nice to make from scratch and incredible cake! i made it for the first time on saturday. Take my advice and don't try to roll it - cook as described and cut it in two and make a square sponge cake, or cut into diamond buns and dust wth icing sugar! fantastic. i need to make it again! It was too thick for me to roll so it spodged into big whacks of cake
Oh the story behind me making that cake, honestly!:o But it was worth the effort. I would use whippin cream as i find double just a little too rich.
Ill merge this with baking quick questions later. The sugar oats and flour should keep indefinitely if stored aritight
I never look at the dates on stuff like that.
Porridge oats
ZipA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Thank you for all your great suggestions!" I ended up making flapjacks and used up most of the sugar but I may attempt the chocolate cake in the next few days with the egg test
