Hi, I bought a fridge freezer off the argos website last week, it was stated as silver, the delivery men dropped it off covered in a big box and cling film, when I opened it a day later, to my dismay it is grey and not silver, I have emailed Argos to say i am not happy about this and as yet havent had a response, also my partner tried to turn the doors around and they would not fit at all they other way, there was a huge gap on the freezer and we had to turn them back. Do I have a right for a replacement (silver), any help much appreciated.

If you bought it off the internet then the distance selling regulations should apply - cant remember them exactly but theres something about 7 days - someone will be along soon to clarify. I would speak to the customer services and see what they say - might be easier to speak to someone rather than emailing.
It has maybe been an error in them putting silver? Does it say grey anywhere or could it be that it is what some may class as a dull silver?Weight Loss - 102lb0 -
If the goods are not to the specification of your order then yes you can send this back and request the correct item. I think Argos give 16 days no quibble refund on nearly all items if you order on line i'm not sure but i may be slightly longer. I know its classed as a costly phone no. but why not try the phone it would be quicker and put your mind at rest too. I have to ask though does the actual receipt state the colour is Grey or does it look grey not silver? some silver appliances do actually look grey and not silver, maybe something to take into consideration0

Yes, the product is not as described you're entitled to a refund0

Thanks everyone, the booklet with it states silver, and I have asked several people and they have all confirmed its grey, its not even a dull silver, I plugged it in though and all the packaging is ripped up, so will that be held against me????? I even went in Comet yesterday and nowhere could I see a grey fridge freezer, its yuk!
thanks!Sam B0 -
Im sure yoit comes under the 7 days distant selling regs as you have not seen the product when you bought it. If you dont like it you can take it back and ask for a money refundSmile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0

You bought a washing machine, not a washing machine and packaging. You are entitled to inspect the goods and packaging does not matter, as it usually has to be taken off anyway. You can insist on a full refund or replacement if you wish. These are your statutory rights, and the 16 (or whatever) days that Argos give are in addition to, but do not override, your statutory rights.
Also, if you do not want to call an 0870 number, try seeing if a freephone or landline number is available by using https://www.saynoto0870.com. (just type in the company name or their telephone number and any alternatives will be listed).Don't bother trying to sue me - I've got no money!0 -
Actually it was a fridge freezer gyzmo but that doesn't detract from your helpful advice.
We have just purchased a fridge from Co-op online. They tell you to insist that the delivery men site and unpack your item so any problems can be spotted immediately.
We have never had a problem with Argos deliveries but after the efficiency and ease of dealing with co-op, they will be our first choice in the future.
I am a bit concerned that having it switched it on, you have accepted the item. If you wanted to reject it as not as described I don't understand why you have used it but hopefully you won't have any problems.0 -

Oh yeah - sorry!
I don't think that using it would necessarily deem it as being accepted, but that would depend on the circumstances (I think in the case here you would have a job proving that you had not accepted it becasue of a misdescription of colour when you could see it and then plug it in!)Don't bother trying to sue me - I've got no money!0 -

Using it would deem it as being accepted, as the returns policy states it must be in unused condition.0 -

I wouldn't even mention it to them. It just confuses the issue. (The issue being that the item is not as described)."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0
