I have not complained about the charges, and accept responsibility for going overdrawn. My only complaint was the stupidity of such a long and drawn out process to get a 100 quid over draft. That is all I am complaining about - what has that got to do with personal repsonsibility????
they have my details - they see the income that comes in, goes out, how much savings i have - so why the interview? what purpose? i will not be telling them anything they cannot see for themselves. It is pointless admin. As i say - i don't care if they reject the request - AS LONG AS THEY DO IT INSTANTLY.
do you understand this? or do you STILL think i have a problem about the charge for going overdrawn? Maybe as this is the umpteenth explanation you may have now grasped it.
White Horse - It is likley you were credit scored over the phone and failed - so they have invited you in for a manual assesment.0 -
Everyone gets what you are trying to say TWH, it is just your story makes you sound like a right arrogant fool. Your belligerent attitude towards the responses is doing you loads of favours and winning you bucketfulls of admirers on MSE.
Whilst you may think 15 minutes is too long to wait to ask to borrow £100 of someone elses money I think your record of going overdrawn twice makes you a likely candidate to at least be asked a few questions about how you are managing your money.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -

quite possibly - if i didn't have large saving deposits with the same institution.
the point is - if this bank has assessed me as "bad with money" - then just reject my application instantly.0 -
I don't think they view you as "bad with money" especially with savings accounts with them. It is more likely about the management of your means rather than the means themselves.
I still think they just want to use it as an excuse to sell you something. I recently deposited my house deposit into an account I hadn't used much before and I quickly had 2 letters and a phone call inviting me for interview to talk about how I could get the "most" from it.
Sounds just like a trigger event they can try and leverage some more cash from you.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
this is amazing. i feel calm. someone has understood me.0

Everyone understands you White Horse - just winding you up for making such a banking error in the first place.0

I get you. Actually a lot of posters here do. But you're missing the point - the interview wasn't about the overdraft. You wanted something - that something could get you in for a 'chat' - that 'chat' could sell you something else. Wastes your time, but they couldn't care less.
Posted here a while back. Applied for a Hsbc monthly saver, didn't bank with them - ''oh, we have to see you for an interview with an advisor''. Advisor wanted copy (LTSB) bank statements, income & expenditure info, direct debits, mortgage details - I was proposing to save a monthly amount with them. Walked out - went to another branch and simply handed the forms over. Sales pitch.0 -
£4.00 and 37p??? I think most people would have been there at some point in their lives. OP, I would complain and see if you can get the £25 back but did you really tell them to f**k off or just something similar? Might go against you in that case. Understand the frustration tho.
So you think the amount he took without asking matters?
I suppose, ManicMum, you think that stealing a pound isn't stealing at all?
(Addressing ManicMum. Not accusing the OP of stealing.)Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Unfortunately you took money that isn't yours without asking. Twice.
Why is it surprising that the bank then want to ask some questions about your credit worthiness before agreeing to increase your overdraft?0 -
I think you will find they GAVE me the money. if there was inadequate funds in the account to process the payment, they should have simply declined to pay it. No one asked them to pay the amount for me. Decline it.0
