Help Please Laptop Infected

The laptop was on and a message came on screen saying it was infected with spyware. The desktop went blue with a warning message in red and has a box with system tool which looks as though it is a system scan and shows 38 infections. We are unable to access anything on the laptop and are using another machine. Any help would be great as loads of course work on laptop thanks

I'm in the process of following the steps myself. Hope that helps
  • I had this tonight whilst viewing a facebook friend's video link on you-tube. My CTRL - ALT- DEL didn't work so I restarted the pc and and chose safe mode then I got the option to return the system to how it was a few days ago. I chose this then did a scan and no viruses were detected so I'm hoping I'm in the clear.

Just wondered where you think you got the virus from?

No idea, I was posting something on eBay. I didn't get the option of resetting, so I've been downloading and running what was suggested. It's taking ages, but hopefully I've done it right & it's all removed. Just waiting to see if someone can have a look at my log. Just glad I have a 2nd laptop to use in the meantime.

  • Sorry, to intrude, but can anyone help me as well. I had a virus message came up, linked to windows. I came off the internet and ran Super antiSpyware, which came up with 2 trojan. It asked me to close down the computer which I did, and on my desk top now alot of the icons do not havethe icons they used to, including AVG and Malwarebyte and when I click on them, it comes up with the name of the programme.exe and says windows needs to know which programm to use to open them. You can use the internet to open, but cannot get that to work either. Would be very grateful ifanyone could help. thanks

have you tried restarting your PC in safemode and seeing if you get the option to return your settings to how they were a few days ago?

Could you tell me how I can do this. I know when I have had problems in the past, it came up automatically, but it wasn't there this time.

    many thanks
