  • Ok, are you sure you CANT get help with childcare? I did. Have you called them? I beleive if you are both working then you are still entitled to money for it. £24,000 pa (rough est) it way below the TC threshold, I think you "should" be entitled to more than £13 pw IMHO.

I would call them, sometimes you will get hold of a friendly person to advise you well.

Hi sinkingindebt, When i've spoke to them I keep getting told no, and depends on what hrs work I get etc and as I don't have a job yet they can't advise me. So I keep applying for jobs not hearing anything and there the circle goes round and round.

Thats why i've down the jobcenter route and see if they can help me atall.
  • Mmm very strange, cos when I called them yesterday the could give me an estimate, I did it on an estimated wage, not hours. But surely you can ask for an est for say 10 hour PW earning £300pm or 30 hours earning £800 for instance? Just to give you an idea?

I will be getting 80% when little one starts, so increase from £132 pm to over £200.

Oh really maybe I need someone more helpful, I'll give them another call tomorrow. Sometimes it really does depend who you get on the phone doesn't it. Thank you

I called the jobcenter on your suggestion lynzpower and I have an interview with them on Friday. I don't think much good will come from it as H earns quite a bit, but fingerscrossed they might beable to help me get a job in tesco or something.

I appreciate that things are difficult but you need to try and be more optimistic, if you can. When you go in to the Job Centre, you want to try and arrive feeling confident that you are there to do them a favour rather than the other way round (without seeming arrogant, of course).

How much your other half earns should surely have no relevance at all on what they can offer you?

    Good luck on Friday

this may sound silly but try popping into a taxi firm. They need an operator 24 hours so try to negotiate hours that suit you. You would be operating a computer system, which you say your ok at

ok, next question. What are peoples views on Payment protection on credit cards - do you have these on yours - I personally cancelled mine, this would lower the minimum payments - but If you continued to pay the same it would pay it off quicker - get other peoples views first though.
  • Hi Zipee,

I pay about £70/year for RAC breakdown cover. It is not the cheapest but reliable and has great customer services and certainly a lot cheaper than paying £14/month.

I started using this message board in June/July time and my finances were in a real mess. You are in the right place and learn great money saving hints and tips.
