May be a niave question - but could the direct debit just be cancelled at your end and then you make the required payments?

Thanks again for going through my adjusted SOA, so sorry I haven't been back on, I do have trouble with my connection sometimes and with two toddlers it isn't easy!

We've paid all our debts for this month worked out what else is going out and when and have money to cover this in the account, I have sold two things on ebay and racked in another £100 so this has helped, we have worked out what we have left over for the month and it works out £66 week to cover fo0d shopping and extras, we have a chest freezer stocked so the shopping bills will be essentials.

I have spent the weekend trying to find ways of earning money, unfortuneately I am not very creative so that singles me somewhat. I don't have any qulaifications but am very good with a PC, I don't mind typing and I know my way around most of the office programs, the internet etc.. I's trying to figure out what I can do with these skills.

You have all been so supportive it's really nice, I don't know what I expected really.

Have you decided what you are going to do with this money- where its going to go?

Hi everyone, I'm back today with not such a good feeling, we worked everything out and next mth is going to be harder becase the apr changes on one of our credit cards and they won't do anything about it.

We can't survive and what we have left over we just can't manage it so don't really know where to go from here, the money we have left over this month is purely for the weekly shopping bill, an with nappies etc to buy its just breaking even. I am looking for work and keep asking everywhere and all I get told is we're not taking anyone on at the mo. It's causing me to panic a bit, it seems I'm trying everything and I keep hitting a brick wall.

No I just don't know what to do

    Hi zippee,
First of all smile, its supposed to let out good feelings. With the card that has the changing APR, can you try transferring it to a 0% or lower card (dont forget to cancel the original if you can).
    Work wise have a look at Jobsite.co.uk, monster.com, totaljobs.co.uk, workthing.com, tiptopjob.com, fish4.co.uk, reed.co.uk, careerbuilder.com
Even if the companies only have full time vacancies, you could try sending in a speculative cv, id do the same for the local supermarkets etc, as even if they tell you no now they may have something in a few weeks.

Hope this helps a little, even if just to say we're still here

Thanks for replying Roxy, we can' get another card to swap it onto we have only been here six months and it seems to be a problem getting credit.

I've been trying to change my BT DD and they won't let me do it on automated system, and when I finally spoke to someone I got told I'm not paying the £41.50 I am required to, so I am paying to low!!! I'm paying £40 !!!!!!.

I cried on the Phone to British Gas as they are trying to double my DD when I only owe £86 and we're not in arrears. We're not in arrears with any household bills.

Sorry for rambling but I need to get everything out of my system, it's all doing my head in, I've turned into a nervouse wreck crying at every opportunity and my kids are being affected because of it, I'm sitting here bawling now.

I'm sorry.. I'll be back on later I need a coffee

    :coffee:

If you are not in arrears with british gas- cant you swap suppliers? Its simply NOT ON thats they are trying to double your DD for no reason. Should be wearing a mask as they say- robbery.

Get rid of them- go with someone new- consumer revenge & all that ;)

Have you spoken with your local job centre? Or used the jobcentre plus website? Can you sign on jobseekers allowance- contributions based ?

    Hi Zippee,

Hope the coffee's helped, teas my vice. If I were in your position regarding the DD's, I would Cancel all the relevant ones with my bank and then with (will power permitting) put the money aside for when the paper bill comes, or pay into there account monthly what I believe is correct. As a guide I put aside £40 each month for water, gas and lecky (£120 total) its always been sufficiant so far for a 3 bed, and Im in all day. Or as Lynz said straight swap suppliers if you sign up for someone like post office home phone they will do it all and you'll just get your leaving letter plus arrears bill from BT. Id also sign up for something like 18185.com for cheaper bills, and so far they have billed me weekly which is great for budgeting.
How's the rest of your budget going?

Feeling a bit better now, British Gas I cried at them and they still put it up but by £5 a mth, I told them what they were doing is robbery the woman laughed!!!

I called the jobcenter on your suggestion lynzpower and I have an interview with them on Friday. I don't think much good will come from it as H earns quite a bit, but fingerscrossed they might beable to help me get a job in tesco or something.

I did think of putting the money aside for the bills but to be honest i think I need it DD for structure if you see what I mean.

The rest of the budget is non shiftable, we have reduced all we can on the shopping bill and are down to about £40, how I wish to find £50,000 down the back of my sofa lol!!!!
