Hi,
I am new so not really sure if I am doing this right.
I would give Tesco a call and speak to the personnel manager, you might just find that they can find you a job at the hours to suit you. I did this last week and have got 2 perfect shifts for me.0 -

Have you thought about being a childminder yourself?
My sister does it and says that having other kids there to keep my nephew occupied probably makes her life easier...........
I think she gets about £3.50 per child per hour (a couple of kids at a time).
You would probably have to do a course, but you could find out how much that would be, and then get a 'safety inspection' on your house.
Just a thought...... Good Luck0 -
Thanks everyone your all so helpful
We are up the creek without a paddle so to speak, I sat down last night and worked out everything that is going out and lets just say, I cried, paniced and cried.
INCOMING: 2129
OUTGOING: 1937
LEFT: 192
The above outgoing figure does not count food bill, petrol, fags or anything else that may crop up.
I have got myself into such a state about it I just don't know what to do now, I feel like running away.
I am looking desparately for a job, but having no luck. The jobcenter doesn't want to help me and the local papers are rubbish to say the least.
Steve700 re:childminding, your sister is a braver woman than me, my two are trouble enough.
So I don't know where to go from here, do i consolidate, home owner loan or just sit panicing, my H was thinking about CCCS, but I am more inclined to sort the problems ourselves we got here we know why, we just want to paye it off and end it all. Believe me we WILL NOT be getting in this situation again for anything.
I am looking for work, I am going to ring tesco etc and see if I can get anything.
Can anyone advise?
Thanks again0 -
Hi
Is there a hospital near you, they often have a bank where you can register. You don't get regular hours but usually cover sick leave often short notice and if you can only work a couple of days aweek that might do.0 -
Hi there
I think it would be a good idea to make an appointment at your Citizens Advice Bureau - I have found them to be very helpful.
Also, you could sell items on Ebay (I've been doing this for the last four years and gradually getting rid of stuff I don't need/want and helping to reduce my bills) - every little helps.
Please also check the 'magazine' forums - there is a thread which lists magazines which have 'shopping' vouchers (Asda take 10% or sometimes more if you use the 'self-service' tills). Best magazine (usually 74p) is on sale in Asda for 40p and the page of vouchers in issue no 46 exceeds the cost of the magazine. Vouchers are also for sale on Ebay (buy quite a few from there, too).
Please be encouraged that you have made the first step in the right direction.:icotbaske0 -

Hi there Zippee
Just wanted to say i really identify with your situation, I'm a mum of two who's finding it financial struggle after moving and then being made redundant so I'm in a similar trap with the whole childcare/tax credits issue. I've been down the route of registering as a childminder but work has been slow and i've probably spent out more than I've earned doing it. Evening jobs are hard to come by as so many of them seem to start too early. I've got to increase my income though and am going to apply for a weekend job i've seen.
The part about panicking when the car is due to be taxed etc struck a chord too, this is how we've always been and i've realised that in the past we've not been honest about the real amounts we have to spend out on running cars, buying presents, dentists, haircuts etc etc before and that it's now time to try and sort out a realistic (although tight) budget which includes all of these things.
Like you I would prefer to sort this out by ourselves if possible. I had an appointment with CCCS which I cancelled while we try and make some changes ourselves to get within budget and leave enough to pay at least the minimum on our debts. However if we can't manage this within the next couple of months I will contact them again. If you go down the secured loan route and find you cannot manage then they won't really be able to help you - much better to keep your debt unsecured as the creditors have less power to act against you if you default.
I would suggest you rework your budget including putting a monthly amount aside for things such as haircuts, car repairs, car tax etc etc and then see what you have left over to pay your creditors. Sorry, it may look even worse than it does now but unless you are honest about how much you are overspending each month I don't think you can tackle the debt head on. If you can make up the shortfall by reducing outgoings and increasing income then great, if not then perhaps it's time to speak to CCCS or payplan for some help.
Hope that helps a bit

Thanks for your replies everyone, I've been looking at the CCCS and I've got the initial plan you can do online but I really don't want to have to do this, I really want to sort this out ourselves. Is that a stupid idea?0

Lets have a look at your new SOA zippee and then we can see where the problems are. I completely appreciate why you might not want to go into a plan- it may be possible to master this independently. Lets have a look andf we can take it from there
