Mother of the bride outfit

Ooooo I like this thread.
My daughter is getting married in July and I'm stuffed if I know what to wear, I hate anything tight, I need a long dress as one of my ankles/legs swells up so I have miss matched legs :rotfl:, I've not worn a dress for well over 12 years cause I hate them and my swine of a daughter won't let me wear my crocks :rotfl:. I quite fancy this dress http://www.very.co.uk/south-pleated-maxi-dress/827683337.prd?browseToken=/b/12926/o/3&trail=1589-1655-12926&prdToken=/p/prod6001999-sku9094782#powerReviews but I'm not sure if it's okay for a mother of the bride, I should say it was my daughter that found the dress. I'm also refusing to shove anything on my head as I look awful in hats and fascinators.0 -

I think that looks perfect and I'm sure you will feel lovely and comfortable in it
:rotfl: l love this site!! :rotfl:0 -
Hat if your hair is 'small' fascinator if you have 'big' hair IYSWIM Comfortable shoes, dont go overboard on the matchy matchy outfit/accessories. dont know where the OP is but a shop in Leicester called Moiras reflections has expensive outfits etc but theres always a sale rail. if its moneysaving we have in mind, then also steer clear of something which will never be worn again.
Kinski if your feet suffer have you looked at Earth shoes? They work wonders with poorly feet, and they do sandals too.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

I am going to be mother of the groom this year and have been looking on ebay, I found a lovely whole outfit, right down to the shoes but wasn't sure if it would fit. It was a Jacques Vert soooooo........
I went into Debenhams yesterday and tried this on

unfortunately the outfit on ebay would have been too big and I just fell in love with the outfit I tried on....can't afford it though so am still checking ebay for something like it!whoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

Thank you, I'm not 100% sure of it yet but it's the nicest one I've seen so far, I also can't wear tights as they make me itch. I'm more at home in my waxed jacket that's falling to bits, my craghoppers and my crocks and taking the dogs a long walk, this dressing up lark just isn't me.0 -

That's the outfit my MIL2B has bought. I had a quick looksie last week on the Jacques Vert website and realised she's spent a similar amount as I have on my wedding dress!
I think it is a lot to spend on an outfit but she can afford it and she likes it and does look lovely on.
My mum's was a little cheaper (although not by much) and it was from Phase Eight as I said earlier.

OMG I sincerely hope my mum doesn't pay anywhere near that for an outfit for my wedding. It's bad enough that I'll be wearing an extortionately priced dress (considering the amount of wear I will get out of it). My mum is a jeans and blouse kind of lady, and I'm hoping that she'll stick to her own style rather than trying to be something she isn't.
Although I do hope she wears the most daftest of hats!

i am only just starting to look but am defo looking for something 'out there' in Lime Green and silver grey!!!!!!!
There's SO many options. Even M&S have some outfits that are dressy enough!
Good luck to everyone looking for their Mum of the bride gear but have fun. Hopefully dont have to do it too many times :rotfl:0 -

I am tempted too:rotfl: but my bank balance says nooooooo, I feel I want to have a nice outfit as 1) I have lost weight 2) my DD went abroad with just her and my SIL and got married so I didn't have to buy an outfit for that. 3) OH says maybe I could wear it again at our wedding :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:we have been living together for 8 years and have no plans to get hitched in the future
