  • I would say contact the head office with a written letter, the email being diverted back to the useless manager may well be true, I`ve heard it before. If you don`t get a decent outcome I would contact the local paper and really tarnish this places reputation although I doubt it has a particularly good one anyway..

My fiancee complains about 80% of the time we eat out. It amazing what we get taken off the bill, quite often the entire bill gets wiped. It is true though that the nicer the place is that you go the more they will do for you. This manager sounds like a complete tool. Myself and a friend were in The Slug and Lettuce last year watching a football match, about 20 minutes before the end of the match they switched it off and said they were closing! Me friend went on the website when he got home and found out the official opening hours which meant that they should`nt have closed. He emailed the actual bar and got a response straightway. I emailed the head office did`nt hear anything then mailed the bar. We did`nt tell them that we had been there together so they gave use each two free pitchers and two sharing platters and reserved us a match of our choice for the world cup. They gave us both this as an apology so we went there twice and rinsed it all lol

Oh, one of those who complains about anything just to scam money off the bill then. You must be so proud of him: what a catch!

Just to clarify, I only presumed noangle was a troll because of the length of the original post and the rather seemingly over the top reaction to everything from a cheap and cheerful establishment.

Having read up on noangel's previous posts I now know she is not a troll, but I still think she is being over the top :)

I've been to Toby Carvery a few times and have found the service to be so so!

The most memorable time was just before Xmas just gone, me and my OH went for a meal in the afternoon. It was quite busy being the Xmas hols and the boy serving the meat had a right outburst at the old couple in front of me. The old guy said "cheer up" or something along those lines as the boy looked really fed up and was thrusting the plates in to customers hands. Think this comment from the old guy was the straw that broke the camels back, he launched into a rant about how he only gets paid min wage and the working conditions are terrible and he hates working there! I couldn't believe it and neither could the old couple! :rotfl:

I didn't complain though, I actually felt sorry for the kid, I couildn't work there, I would hate to stand up in that heat all day.

I have to several diff tobys. I find them good value for money, during the day you get a decent choice for £5 and in the evenings you get a much better choice and usually curries etc

I have never had any problems and normally have to wait for a table!

There really is nothing worse than some crusty old fooker telling you to cheer up when your fed up. He should have decanted the hot gravy down the front of the coffin dodgers pants as they would,no doubt, have the waistband conveniently located half way up his boney old ribs.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
