What gets me is the new electronic soap dispensers that are being advertised on TV. They're saying that it's more hygenic as you don't need to touch the dispenser to get the soap out.

Now correct me if I'm wrong but even if you have to pump a dispenser to get the soap out, don't you wash your hands and get them clean anyway? Talk about solving a problem that doesn't exist!

those adverts really wind me and my partner up! You've said exactly what we say everytime the bloomin ad comes on. But you can guarentee some mug somewhere are buying them...

Personally, I always open the door with a piece of toilet paper!!

    Useless I'm afraid!

In our second year at dental school we did bacteriology.

One experiment we did was to touch an agar plate with a culture of bacteria on it (The same bugs as are in poo) through 10 thicknesses of toilet paper. Then we touched a clean agar plate.

A couple of days later there were plates with perfect fingerprints of bacteria.

Worth remembering though, that we do actually have an immune system designed for the purpose of keeping us safe from all the bugs and gremlins we encounter on a day by day basis!

It needs a bit of exercise now and again!
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

As you know the government and health services etc. are going bonkers over hygiene. You know the catch it, bin it, kill it almost everywhere. Instructions on how to wash your hands. MRSA and other super bugs cropping up etc.

    There's something that's bugging me.

What? Not washing your hands as advised?

why the need to wash your hands after a pee? i know its clean because i washed it earlier and i havn't dribbled on my hands. people dont wash their hands every time they touch their face or leg, so why do you need to wash after holding yourself to pee?

The puzzle is; why don't they make anti-bacterial shower gel?

Carex shower gel has been around for yonks, as has Cidal soap. Both are antiseptic/antibacterial.

Oh, and shh:shhh:, but washing your hands with plain old soap and water is antibacterial too!

    It's only a game

I was thinking that as well.

Yes, they put on their rubber gloves, examine you, then go on their computer, then come back and hav another fiddle in your mouth.
They would have done the same with the previous patient wouldnt they, wouldnt their saliva etc be on the keyboard.

I've never seen a dentist do that. It's always the nurse that uses the computer, and I've even seen a few that have changed their gloves a few times during appointments.

But people fall for it and buy this overpriced, pointless junk !

Now-a-days yes. The idea is not new. I saw something about it several years ago. Can't remember where. It's the hygiene frenzy lately that have allowed the worthless junk to become popular.
