well i feel pretty stupid for booking it then, so far the park we're going to we've been told is crap, and it's more than what we thought we would be charged. Great!

Aw don't be sad YET!!! check online and see how much it would be if you'd booked directly? Hopefully you've still made a saving. Think it will depend on when you're going??
I know when the kids were smaller and we went off peak - during term time, it would've actually been cheaper booking direct plus we could've choosed when we want to go( was back in the days when you booked by collecting tokens) So I've always double checked before booking to make sure I'm saving.

By the way I went to that park several yrs ago before it was refurbed and I didn't think it was to bad. We suffered as it was off season so the shop had nothing and the entertainment was non exsistant and it didn't have an indoor pool.
have you checked trip advisor reviews??

just re-read your OP and you're going end of June,
M-F arriving on 20 june £273 or arriving 27 june £294 so if you've paid £150 you saved some money???

    Hi OP

the site its self is in Pagham which is a few miles from Bognor Regis and Chichester

Pagham has a nice beach - my oh and myself usually drive up to the nature reserve, park up and then spend the day on the beach their, it is stoney

There are some nice beaches around and you could take the kids in to Bognor Butlins for the day or to harbour park at littlehampton (amusement thing) or maybe go over to Portsmouth to Gun Wharf quays and go up the spiniker tower, you used to be able to change tesco clubcard points up for entry tickets (not sure if you still can).

You will have a lovely time and its still a break away from home. the weather here last year at the end of June was stunning and probably some of the hottest we had all last year.

    Hi everyone

Just wondering about the extra charges Haven are asking for with the 9.50 sun holidays. We were lucky to get a nice park, expecting to pay for passes and a power/electricity etc but the breakdown is as follows, and makes the holiday £150 for 4 of us.

    entertainment pass £40
linen / beds made up £14
    main season supplement (?) £22
    power charge £20.85
    upgrade £16

we understand some are optional, and some not, but they don't say optional and have just sent us a bill with balance due now for holiday end June

This is our first time with the sun so not sure about this, can anyone help? I don't want to ring them yet because they might think I'm tight, it's still good value at 150 but we were expecting half that!

We expected perhaps an extra £20 for power and about half for the passes ?

    Thanks a huge lot!

The main season supplement is because your holiday is in June and therefore is £15 pp not £9.50 for the holiday.

£6.95 service charge/power charge covers ulilities and cleaning of your accomadation prior to your arrival. (this is not optional)

The Entertainment passes are optional (though you may not be able to use any of the indoor facilties on site without one.

The upgrade is optional as is the linen charge (just take your own bedding)

In the little "Sun Holidays" magazine supplement it clearly states all the charges, albeit in very small print ;)

YOu will be making a very good saving on the brochure price anyway!

Also as you've got to pay in June presume you're going July at some point??
theprices for the 'summer' hol are always a bit more.
But then again compared to what we've paid it's very similar charges ( we're going in april)

    Hiya

No they are asking for immediate payment, not making it clear on the invoice if anything actually is optional and the holiday is 3 nights end of june

Should ring them and ask for a new invoice excluding the optional extras, bit sneaky of them I think!

Thanks, I had forgotten we might have selected that option!

    Fair enough, it did say!

Thanks for that, that lays it out. I think we were a bit surprised that they don't mention it, I know we're getting a good deal already but have to say I won't use their linen, we booked direct last time we went and it was horrid!

Thanks for all of your posts, it seems clear to me what is optional and what isn't.

Still don't remember seeing anything about a 'main season supplement' !

  • I am going to Highfield Grange, Essex in July. When my invoice arrived I photocopied. Crossed out the things I didn't require (linen).

I altered the "amount due" and will return with my payment at the end of next week when my bank balance is more healthy.:D
