Am I being unfair?

Your mum's been made redundant.. so isn't busy working, and can afford to pay for your fare - why doesn't just go with her herself? Seems pretty unfair on you, especially as you're trying to get a dissertation done! Just say no, there's no reason why you should have to babysit an 18 year old.Paying off CC in 2011 £2100/£1692

thats a fair chunk of my week gone just because Im expected to babysit her, and its not like I don't have my own life here,
Oh and just to note this is the first time my sister has even bothered speaking to me since new year where she got stupidly drunk acted like moo and slapped me one....an apology wouldn't have gone far amiss
Does your mother not understand about the work involved in writing a dissertation or does she not think what you are doing is important?charlie792 wrote: »Well I dont see why her 'boyfriend' (who is 26) can't go with her, he only works a few hours at the same place she does and Im sure he could easily get time off to go with her....My mum always expects me to babysit her, thats exactly what happened at new years which was a total mess!
Me and my sister are totally different people and unfortunately she still hasn't grown up
Plus after the way she behaved at new year why would your sister want your company, surely she would prefer her boyfriend to support her?0 -
It may be that your sister wants to spend time with you and is using the interview as an excuse.0

If you don't want to go, don't go but don't use poor excuses like the one above! Can't your OH cope without you for a couple of days? Can't he make his own lunch or his own dinner for that length of time? How very sad if that is the case!
No but hes poorly at the moment and Id feel bad leaving him to it...TLC and all that:osomethingsgottogive wrote: »Your mum's been made redundant.. so isn't busy working, and can afford to pay for your fare - why doesn't just go with her herself? she is still working, basically she has to work her notice - but in my opinion her money would obviously be better saved for the future for things like paying the mortgage rather than paying for me to go with my sister to London!
Unfortunately my mother doesn't trust my sister too much after past behavior and obviously thinks Im a responsible person to go with her, which is unlucky for me - me and my family really don't get on too well, I moved out at 18 and have seen them very little since - hence being expected to babysit just seems ridiculous to meMFW 2020 #111 Offset Balance £69,394.80/ £69,595.11

It's a shame your sister had to get your mum to re-ask you rather than try and influence you herself. She might have been reaching out to you after the new years incident but she didn't try very hard to convincing you to accompany her so I suspect not. Agree with the others, she is capable to going on her own. If her friends/boyf don't want to go with her there must be more to this than your being told. Your mum needs to appreciate the situation she is putting you in my asking especially the offer to pay will cause you more pain in the long run as you know her situation. Good luck with your dissertation.0
