Another question about timings here, I know, I'm being a bit thick but I'd rather ask the question now so I make sure I get it right.

I know there are 3 timing points for gap burger jobs. I am doing a drive in tomorrow. On the questionaire it says:

"When you first come to your complete stop in the shortest drive in line" time in hrs, mins and seconds. I take this to mean that I have to take a time at this point, now is this starting my timer BEFORE I stop or just taking down the time?

I know then you have to take the time when you stop to do your order and then when they tell you the total and then the next one is when you recieve food.

I know that the one I will be going to is quiet at the time I am going so there won't be much of a queue so do I start time before I join the queue (though there prob won't be one) I've not actually used one of these as a regular customer for ages so I am a bit scared about getting it right!

Please can someone explain it to me? I've been through the training twice now!

Not sure if this will help or not but I tend to take a lap on the stopwatch (on my phone) at every significant point during the visit, not just the timing points. Then when I stop in the carpark to taste the food (and dump the rest in the bin :rotfl:) I write down all the times I took and then I can work out what points I actually need. I have also used the timings in the report (the bit where you are asked about it taking longer or shorter than expected) to give more information re how long I queued for example.

Snowed a couple of times last week but heavier last night. Melting already but walking on the pavements means plowing through several inches of slush.

And one of my boots has a leak......

Has anyone been allocated a visit by bare to the shops that came out yesterday? As the deadline is tomorrow I'm wondering how I'm going to achieve the one I applied for if they don't allocate soon... I want to take my son with me for added realism. It mentions a quiz- have I missed it somewhere on the site?:o
  • If it is the one that needed a male person to be involved, then my husband is off doing one right now, so I presume they have been allocated...
Goal = £9,000 in 2011, starting in March
    Current total - £779 banked by 09/04/11
Also growing, scrimping and crafting to not need as much in the first place!

You will have to record the actual clock times for when you enter and leave the site; these go into your report (separate from your order/delivery timings).

The order/delivery timing requirements can look confusing, because if you are using actual clock times you will need to write down three times, whereas if you use a stopwatch you will only have two to write down.

If you use a stopwatch, you start your timer as soon as you stop in the queue. When you order at a window, the next timing point is when you are told the cost of your order and your third is when you receive your complete order. So, if you use a stopwatch with split timings, your first time is 0 and the second and third will be the timings you enter in your report. With the stopwatch, you will have two timings to put in your report: time from when you stopped to when you were told the cost, and time from when you stopped to when you receieved your whole order.

If you record your timings as actual clock times (i.e. not using a stopwatch), your first time will be when you stop, your second will be when you are told the cost and the third will be when you get the order.

If you order at a speaker, it is very similar: again, your first stopwatch time is 0 for when you stop in the queue, your second time is recorded when you stop at the payment window and your third will be when you get your food/drink. Similarly, you will have three times to record if you are using actual clock times.

See thats what I thought, it is confusing because surely a stopwatch is much more accurate than a actual clock cos they want hrs minutes and secs.

Thanks for answering my question, it makes a lot more sense now.

Be aware on a drive thru the timing points can be different depending on how they take your order and payment. If I'm going to a site I dont know then I try to see what their system is before I go thru.

To be honest, I still find it confusing. Anything different from my local one and I need to remind myself where the points are.
