I'm hoping to get a job or two at the airports when we go away next month. Is it best to ask the MS companies what they have or would any jobs be on the boards? I seem to recall e-mails asking if anyone was flying but can't remember who that was. Also with airport jobs are you expected to submit within usual timeframes or can you phone results through or wait until you get home?

I always email ALL the companies telling them where I'm travelling from, sometimes gets results.

Some let you do the report when you get back, some 'phone you up and get the results that way before you go, varies.

RE usually say they will let you report when you get back, then their cr*p softwware automatically decallocates the job after 24 hrs. I ALWAYS have to chase it up. Idiots!

I'm in the same situation -although I will have internet access whilst I'm away -Writing reports with jetlag is a pain though.

TNS usually have some but May is gone and I see Gatwick on RE (non retail ) worth ringing about that one if your exact date isn't showing (no report to file when you get back on that one too) bit early for RE's pub jobs yet. I've had a variety at Gatwick in the past cheap food, nice food, govt checks, music, posh supermarket food, books etc

I would doubt they are, as they're one of the ones encouraging you to refer your friends.

You obviously never read their news then!
Through the emergence of social media sites such as Facebook, twitter and a variety of other online forums, it can be tempting to discuss or make reference to elements of the assignments we have available.

We would like to remind all shoppers that all details about the mystery shopping, audit and survey assignments made available to you must remain strictly confidential at all times.

That pretty much says, don't talk about us on online forums.
  • Does anyone know if RE proofreaders can also be mystery shoppers for them?

I don't think there is anything to stop them..... They might be treading on dodgy ground if they try and proofread their own assignments though :-)

You considering applying?? I looked at it, but I don't have an up to date CV. All my jobs since leaving school have involved application forms so the only CV I have is the one I made to apply for work experience aged 15!!

I was thinking about this the other day - Do you know if it is something you can do from home?

You can do it from home, you need to go to their Milton Keynes office for a couple of training sessions though, and you really need to do it during the day (I think) to make it worthwhile (as staff in the office check photos/receipts by evening not always a lot left due to fastest finger first).

So if you were planning to MS during the day and proofread during the evening you might be out of luck.

I wasn't thinking of in the evenings. I have a job where I work a lot of late shifts wherby I don't start til 2.30pm and I wasl also thinking of my friend who has recently been made redundant

I'd check before applying if they are a major company of yours as I could see conflict of interest coming up -certainly with some of the clients so they may either limit you to shopping certain companies or just have a blanket no. Personally I can't see why not and see benefit having proofreaders who've actually shopped-but common sense and what the client wants ............. isn't always the same thing.
