I know it is in a completely different price bracket... but it seems that possibly the best buy at the moment for a 42" plasma is the Panasonic 42PX60 which you can get for less than £1000 including a 5 year Panasonic warranty and free DVD. After hours of research I finally plumped for one after starting looking at a 32" Philips LCD, the Toshiba 32" WLT66 then 42" Toshiba WLT68.... then realised good plasmas give better pictures in general than good LCDs. LCDs tend to be better for gamers though I think.

Sorry to sound dim but I have only just started looking around for a flat screen, I always thought that lcd was better because they have a longer life span,is this not the case? The reason for my question earlier is because I have seen a Samsung LCD which I like but think I will have to look it up now as I feel a little unsure
