This info is taken from a contributor from AV Forums :
Sharpness test results conducted with various HDTVs
1.Sony X Series,Philips LCD,Samsung LCD - Razor-sharp pictures with washed out blacks and inaccurate primary colors
2.Sharp LCD - Sharp pictures,Good blacks but suffers from color banding issues
2.Pioneer - Smooth and clean picture, very pleasing to the eye sans video noise
3.Hitachi - Smooth and clean picture, contrast fluctuates in some models
4.Panasonic - Moderate sharpness but very pleasing to watch sans purple/magenta banding
5.LG - Sharpness almost equivalent to the Panny
6.Samsung Plasma - Least sharp with occassional motion smearing and dot crawls
7.Philips Plasma - Sharp coz of Pixel Plus Engine but lots of red push making even the grasses look unnatural
I know it is in a completely different price bracket... but it seems that possibly the best buy at the moment for a 42" plasma is the Panasonic 42PX60 which you can get for less than £1000 including a 5 year Panasonic warranty and free DVD. After hours of research I finally plumped for one after starting looking at a 32" Philips LCD, the Toshiba 32" WLT66 then 42" Toshiba WLT68.... then realised good plasmas give better pictures in general than good LCDs. LCDs tend to be better for gamers though I think.0 -
Sorry to sound dim but I have only just started looking around for a flat screen, I always thought that lcd was better because they have a longer life span,is this not the case? The reason for my question earlier is because I have seen a Samsung LCD which I like but think I will have to look it up now as I feel a little unsure0
